2061  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Coffee sleeve with a message anyone? on: December 29, 2009 09:38:15 PM
I have a friend who is a "bee hobbyist"? (Not sure what she calls herself, but she has a couple of hives that she tends and eventually hopes to get honey from.)  ANYWAY...this was a little something I came up with to give as a Christmas gift, made of cotton and fleece with a sterling charm.  It closes with two vintage buttons I failed to take a picture of. Its message refers to the disturbing decline in bee populations which will affect pollinization, which will affect food supplies, etc, etc.....  Pretty deep for a coffee sleeve!!

Big thanks goes out to RaraAvis for being such a great swap angel!  I got a way too cute bitten gingerbread man too - looking for my cable to hook camera to computer - but suffice it to say it is adorable and I really appreciate you coming through for our group - you are the best!!  Cheesy

I LOVE that seal - so adorable! I bet they were much appreciated gifts!

Evaberry - As far as alternative fillers go...I have used feed corn with great results.  Here's a little bit of info about the various fillers - not sure if oats are mentioned - but anyway, some good info.

2068  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Oil Painting: door mouse on: December 21, 2009 09:47:35 PM
Your door mouse has cranberry genitalia Tongue Not sure if it's the placement or the colour of your signature, but it's really distracting. I'd say it needs to go closer to the colours in the door mouse. Otherwise your colour and tone is very strong. I kinda also want to see him holding onto the branch with his hanging foot. It looks awkward as is right now.

Its funny - but that never even occured to me (concerning the berry genitalia) -  Must be according to the vein your mind runs in.  Wink  As for how he is holding on, I would think it was meant to look a bit awkward - he is clinging to a branch, not taking a rest in a clump of grass - I think it very well conveys the idea that he might fall at any minute!

I think wood is the perfect thing to go with the "woodsy" theme.  Really pretty!
