31  Halloween Owl in Halloween Decor and Parties by thisbirdsabsurd on: October 10, 2012 10:55:49 AM
-I made this for the Vintage Halloween swap, inspired by some smaller vintage owls.  He's about 12" high, made of fabric and covered in (gulp) glitter.  The eyes were an accidental find, but I can't imagine any other use for those buttons than owl eyes!

and here's another view (borrowed from rackycoo!)  Smiley

Okay - here we go!  My most awesome package from racky!!!
First - even if you already saw her post - is this ever so adorable little trick-or-treater!  I hear his name is Benjamin and how much do you love his little glasses??

See the little pencil propping him up?  Genius!
Next is this spooky shrine - I love opening up doors with surprises behind them - and how cool is that spider web door??

And then finally - this fantastic crow - all ready to party down on Halloween!  I love his little pedestal!

Thank you so much racky - this was so much fun!!!  (P.S. - yours is all done - just giving it a little dry time!)  Smiley

33  Re: Wicked Children Altered Tin Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: September 04, 2012 04:38:08 PM
Okay everyone - be verrrrrry quiet.  By no means do we want to wake this wicked child - it's best to let sleeping Medusas lie.
This horrid little baby grew too big for her little tin and had to be moved into a larger tin.  Look at her sweet little pillow and covers - so unassuming - but those baby snakes hint at something more sinister...
Thank you so much Killam creative - she's horrible!  (In the best way possible.)  Wink

34  The Grand High Witch in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by thisbirdsabsurd on: August 29, 2012 08:08:11 PM
-as a child that is. As part of the Wicked Child tin Swap my partner picked "The Grand High Witch" from "the Witches" by Roahld Dahl.  Now everyone KNOWS that real witches are bald - so of course my child had to be bald!  The number 86 (at the top and on the bottle) refer to Formula 86, which turns people into mice.

This is a quote from the book

And a good look at the frozen Charlotte head I found - pretty darn creepy if you ask me!

This was just too much fun!!

35  Re: Put a Bird On It! Swap - Send out Friday July 27th in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: August 09, 2012 05:00:23 PM
Hooray!  Hooray!  My package from camelama has arrived!!  It was full of goodies so I'll start off with the extras - including a couple of things from Archie McPhee, which just happens to be one of my favorite quirky stores!!

Next we have this fabulous reusable grocery bag!  Love this fabric!

None of you can possibly appreciate this next thing - sachets filled with organic lavender that camelama picked herself!   Mmmm-mmmm!

Check out this silly little chicken pouch!  And have you ever seen cuter fabric than this lining???

How about this t-shirt? I am SO wearing this tomorrow!!

And last but not least, a cute little bird toy - my cockatoo took an interest in it before I even had a chance to hang it up!!

Thank you so much camelama!  This was a lot of fun! Cheesy

36  Itty Bitty Owls and... in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: July 19, 2012 05:32:01 PM
Here's another little something I added to the swap package I did for the Put a Bird On It swap...

They're quite small - (that's a nickel in the background) - Great Horned Owl, Barn Owl, Screech Owl and Snowy Owl - oh!  And their teeny tiny supper.  Smiley

37  More Tiny Birds in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by thisbirdsabsurd on: July 19, 2012 11:12:32 AM
For the "Put a Bird On It" swap I did a take off on a project that I did last year.  The last one was 25 tiny birds - this time it was six - all of them on my partner's list of favorites.  Smiley  Done in ink and watercolor:

1" x 1", raised mount

-and here's a closer look.

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

38  Re: Wicked Forest Altered Matchbox GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: June 04, 2012 08:40:07 PM
Okay - I don't care what anyone says, I think suereal wins the prize for "wickedest match box"!!  First of all it arrived in a small white box with a great big eye pasted to the back side - I understood this when I opened the box and found THIS!!!!

And believe it or not - this was what was INSIDE!!!!

The tiny scroll inside had this ominous message...

-I'm not taking any chances - who wants me to make them something cool from some of these trinkets???
Here's a shot of the jaws opening to reveal the box inside -

And finally, I had to share this picture.  My parrot was sitting with me as I took the picture and he kept trying to get a closer look and was saying "Oooooooh!"  Smiley

Another secret I discovered as I carried it in from the car tonight (yes, I opened it in the car) - IT GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!!  Which intensifies the creepiness factor ten fold.  I will NOT be sleeping in the same room as my new little friend.  Wink
Thank you so much suereal - you outdid yourself!!!

39  Dia De Los Muertos Pin Cushion!! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: June 01, 2012 11:19:40 AM
I was part of the sewing Accessories swap and this is one of the things I made for Missing Willow. (I made something similar for sweetyetevil a couple of years ago!)
I used Sculpey to form the skull over a styrofoam skull.  I then hollowed it out, baked it and painted with acrylics.  The actual pin cushion was glued into the hole afterwards.

And the back, with a skeleton goat - because MW lives on a farm with goats.  Smiley

Alrighty!  I'm ready to show off the greatness I received from Missing Willow!
First - this magnificent pin cushion straight off my wist!  I didn't even remember that I had put that on there - but as soon as I saw it I knew she had stalked well.  Wink

and a close up of the beautiful details!

Next there is a sewing book made from the most wonderful fabric!  I love this and will get plenty of use out of it on my quest to organization! LOL

That's a cute little needle book next to it - and behold!  The inside reveals plenty of pockets, a pair of scissors, needles, embroidery floss, a yarn cutter (who knew?), a needle threader, a pin cushion and a little recycled sweater needle book!!!  Unbelievable!!!

Obviously we agreed to do some extras, and I was super lucky to receive some of MW's delicious homemade soap!  I wish you could smell it - awesome!

And here's the whole deal along with some treats - and minus the teacup that I have already strategically placed where i can admire it everytime I enter the house!

Thanks a million MW!  You're the best!
