1  Re: Vintage Halloween Swap 2015 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: August 19, 2015 02:08:23 PM
Thanks so much for your comments everyone!  And now....to switch gears....Eeeek!  Ahhhh!  Ohhhh!  I am so excited with the treasure racky sent to me!  I've always loved her Halloween cat boxes - but I'm pretty sure I love this guy better!!!  Everything about him is wonderful - the face, the FEET, the bat on a stick, the little pumpkin!  C'mon - how adorable is THIS? I think...he is made of paper mache?  Is that right racky?  Please let us all know your process.  Thank you so much!  I couldn't be happier!  (And P.S., it came at 4:18.  I know this because I was waiting out at my mailbox at 4.)  Roll Eyes

2  Dapper Skelly Boy in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: August 19, 2015 11:40:46 AM
Racky was my partner in the Vintage Halloween Swap.  After looking through her magnificent Halloween pinterest board for waaaaay too long I decided to do something based on the work of the amazing Willian Bezek.
He's made of polymer clay with a shaped wooden block for his body.  I made him a little distressed shirt, jacket and shorts, although they're still quite a jaunty shade of turquoise.  Wink

And here he is in his (ahem) final resting place.  It's an old wooden cheese box with a little bench made out of another old box.

Fun swap!  Keep your eye out for the soon to be amazing gallery for this one!

What a good dog mom you are.  To be honest, I'd never go to the trouble since everything mine eat go immediately down their throats, (why would you bother chewing - it's a time waster!). Wink

4  Fluffy Chicken Nuggets in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: August 06, 2015 09:21:39 AM
Well a good portion of my creative time lately has been dedicated to making zillions of House Chickens.  Wink  (And for someone who hates working with fur as much as I do, that's quite a feat!)
Anyway, just to make things interesting Ive added chicks...just yellow for now but I'm experimenting with some other colors too. Pretty simple but kinda cute sprinkled in with all the hens.  Smiley

7  Yup That's Me! in Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: June 02, 2015 11:06:54 AM
I have a couple of big shows coming up in the next few months so I decided to make a banner for my booth.  I'd like to say it was a stash buster, because I DID use fabric from my stash, but it barely made a dent. Smiley  Oh well, it was fun to make and I'm pretty happy with the out come.

8  Gathering Aprons in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thisbirdsabsurd on: May 21, 2015 11:19:38 AM
Is this clothing?  Seems like everything I make doesn't quite fit into any topic.  Wink
Anyway, I made one of these for myself last year, then another for someone else and this year I've made a few changes to create, (ta ta ta taaaah!) the perfect gathering apron.
They're long so you can get down on the ground and dig in the dirt without getting your pants dirty, or without grinding dirt into your knees if you're wearing shorts.  Wink  They have deep envelope pockets for gathering eggs (if you have chickens) or just for keeping a little spade, or some herbs, or some seed packets, or whatever!  The tie threads through some buttonholes at the bottom to gather up the apron so you can carry all of those vegetables you're going to be picking from your garden (I'm saying this as a positive thought since last year my garden was kind of a bust.)
Anyway, here are two, a third is in the works. I need to get someone to take an action shot but at the moment it's just me, so use your imagination.  Wink

9  Re: OTBT - One Tiny Bird Thing - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: May 01, 2015 04:38:03 PM
There was a wonderful surprise in my mailbox this afternoon!  A beautiful little hoop - "Birds With Attitude" because, she said, she has known bluejays, crows and chickens to all have a little of that!   Smiley

Thank you so much Acadian Driftwood!  I'll display this with pride!  Smiley
