21  Re: Monthly Odd Holiday - February in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: January 23, 2010 08:19:18 PM
Here's what her majesty the Disco Queen Highness sent me:

a stack of pancakes (just like on my wist!) for Pancake Week/Day

a Ferris wheel pouch for Ferris Wheel Day

a tooth-holding pillow for my son for Tooth Fairy Day

Thank you!!  I love them so much, and both of my sons adore the pancakes.

Hey, Niki here...2 months later.  Donnie's Girl sent me a fantastic cape/apron for my son just a little after our swap ended, but I didn't have our camera, then I didn't have the cape, blah blah blah, I took too long.  But I'm posting it now!  It's a great one because it's Batman on one side and Superman on the other.  He loves flying around with it.  She also sent a couple fun t-shirt transfers.  Thank you again!  (Please excuse the dirt on the cape - it's been well-loved already.)  -Niki

I got such a thoughtful (and spoiling!) gift from plucky1_08!  Yay for presents!!  I got 3 pretty painted picture frames, a beautifully painted clock and fun mailbox for my son's new fort, and my bought gifts were a yummy vanilla candle, a fun Coca-Cola tin (I'm a collector), and some delicious black licorice.  Thank you sooo much!

Well I finally downloaded the photos.  Here's my fabulous package.  Everyone but the three year-old has already seen their gifts.  My husband got a scarf in his school colors and a hilarious apple cozy (he's a teacher).  My baby got a precious hat and an amazing bath puppet.  My older son got a snake scarf (sooo cool!) and a monster puppet (I was just saying the day before that we don't have any puppets for him - perfect timing!).  And I got a beautiful scarf and matching hat & bag in my favorite colors, plus a cute hot pad for when I bake.  We were so spoiled!  Edie, you are an incredible crocheter!  Thank you!!!

Here's my amazing stuff.
Troublet gave me: two pretty blue headbands and a great recipe holder (with a few recipes) and a tree topper plus some really fun extras (ribbon, colorful papers, flowers)
She gave my sister-in-law: some adorable reusable makeup pads in a precious zippered pouch with an amazing crocheted pouf and shower gel
She gave my brother-in-law: 2 mugs with Halo transfers and 4 matching coasters (should these be handwashed?)
She gave my grandma: a lovely embroidered saying to put in a frame
She gave my sons: a cute monster/alien/plankton doll and a similar bib for the baby
She gave my father-in-law: an incredible canvas roll for holding his whittling tools - plus the tools!
Thank you so much, partner!  I don't think I match all your spoils, but I'll try.

I got my package from donniesgirl today and I can't believe how well she combined everything I love!  Halloween?  Check.  Robin's egg blue?  Check.  Baking?  Check.  Star Wars?  Check.  Oh yes.  She made me a robin's egg blue apron with pumpkin print ruffles and a Death Star patch.  Plus a precious double-sided headband with orange plaid print and candy corn print.  And to go with the apron, a lovely Halloween potholder.  Plus some sweet treats (my husband's totally using the wax mustache for his costume!).  Thanks so much!!

27  Re: Slumber Party for 9 year old 4th graders in Party Planning by nikimac on: September 18, 2009 08:01:38 AM
I had an old-school slumber party for my 26th last year and I tried to mimic a child's party as much as possible.  I know the party's today and it's last-minute, but maybe you can still use my ideas.
Food: cake, banana splits (ice cream, bananas, pineapple chunks, strawberry sauce, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, sprinkles, whipped cream, cherries, nuts), popcorn for a movie, chips & dip, soda pop, and lots of candy
Favors: lip gloss, hair bands, light-up bracelets, stickers
Activities: MASH (see picture), Twister, fashion shoot (do manicures and hair, then take photos), movie, presents
Breakfast: pancakes or waffles and juice
Hopefully this helps you even though it's tonight!!

28  Re: Michael Jackson...We love the gloved one gallery in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: September 11, 2009 10:42:39 AM
Well I finally found our camera hiding in the backseat of the car.  Here's what butterfly angel gave me:
* a t-shirt for my boy that says "I [glove] Michael Jackson" - clever!
* a little "The Music Lives On" pillow with the Thriller lyrics on the back
* and adorable cloth blocks that say ABC, 123, you and me, his birth & death dates, and have pictures of his face

Here's what I received: two cute little Ewoks, a house for them, Chewbacca stamped notepaper, a golden pendant (my son took it away before I took my photo and I couldn't find it tonight), and a quilt for my new baby.
