21  New Appliques for Onesies in Needlework: Completed Projects by lisalady161 on: March 24, 2009 06:15:03 PM
So I finally finished these little bits of embroidery, now I have to applique them onto onesies and send 'em to Florida to my Niece Roseanna and her new daughter, Lili!  Please forgive my lousy photography skills...I'll post the finished pieces and try to take better pictures!

A Fairy Baby!  He's done in mostly satin stitch with a little daisy stitch in the wings and french knots on the flowers.  I used 3 strands of floss throughout, but I think it's a little too chunky.

And here's the Angel Girl....

I got smart and used 2 strands with her, and I'm pleased with the way she turned out...she reminds me of the new mom, Roseanna, as a little girl!

22  Fairy shirts in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lisalady161 on: January 09, 2009 05:49:52 AM
I made these shirts for the next-door neighbor girls (16 and 15) for Christmas.

This is Catherine's shirt....

and Chelsea's shirt:

I used Urban Threads fairy designs and painted them with fabric markers.  The cuffs and bottoms are small 'scarves' of boa fur knitted in garter stitch and hand-tacked in place.

Closeups of the fairies below (I was best pleased with how the light pink shirt turned out).

My picture taking is not the best and this type of project was a 'first' for me, so if you're going to comment, please be constructive and gentle (did I mention it's my birthday this week and you're supposed to be nice?)  Wink

23  Post-Holiday gifties! in Needlework: Completed Projects by lisalady161 on: January 04, 2009 02:24:07 PM
Once I got the Christmas gifts done, it was time to start on the rest of my projects!

This will be a framed plaque for my cousin's b-day this week

This is for my friend Tiff's new step-granddaughter! It's an Urban threads design stitched onto a peach onesie (which I will never do again, after this I will do the stitching on muslin and applique it on the onesie, it's much easier)!
