I have begun! You know that feeling you get when you craft something and it actually comes out the way you hope? Yeah, I'm pretty happy at the minute. I totally feel for all of you who haven't got your partners yet, I'm loving this swap!

ETA: Maybe scavenging rather than hunting...but that's a bit vulturey

On my profile too, which is for the best really as I've already started hunting...

My August is looking relatively free so I'm totally up for this, Ruby. I'm meant to be sleeping at the minute though so I'll get the questionnaire written up tomorrow but yes! Save me a seat Cheesy.

ETA: And I love the scavenger hunt aspect!
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting Rant on: January 24, 2010 09:55:42 AM
I'll definitely remember to unpick before I walk away in the future. It's disheartening having to start with undoing work. I have a feeling this project is going to be ignored for a bit now. I'm glad I'm not alone anyway!

I think there's something wrong with me. Every time I get maybe 3/4 of the way through a large knitting project things start to wrong. I've finished the body of a jumper and I'm halfway through the first sleeve...suddenly I seem to have forgotten how to knit, I drop stitches and have to unpick and randomly start knitting in the middle of a purl row etc. It's so frustrating being close to the end and not able to get any further. Anyone else have the same problem? Would it be best to walk away for a while or work through it?
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Art of Crochet Magazine on: January 12, 2010 10:04:46 AM
Does it come with proper wool rather than acrylic? I was hoping it would come with different sized hooks too so I wouldn't need to buy one every time I want to start a new project (I know that'd work out cheaper but it's a hassle getting anywhere that sells them and I usually end up not bothering.

I'll have to have a think. It is quite pricey.

Hey hey,

There's a new magazine out in the UK, information here:

http://www.theartofcrochet.com/

It's one of those partworks things where each week you get some wool/a hook and end up with an afghan. There's other crochet patterns in the magazine too and it'll teach you a new stitch each week. I know 2.99 a week is a bit pricey and it'd probably be useless to all you experienced folk but I'm just starting out and I thought it might give me some incentive to keep up the learning.

Any else bought it/thinking of buying it? What do you think?
