Thanks for all the wonderful comments.  Yea. He looks good in all the colors besides white, it shows how dirty he is.  He'll do anything for a treat.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Man's Shirt Turned Apron on: August 20, 2011 01:06:05 AM
I got a few old men's shirt from my boyfriend's brother that they were going to toss out.  The original plan was to make a basic apron like this http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-do-an-apron-using-an-old-shirt/, but I really liked this fabric and I wanted to maximize all the parts of this shirt.  One idea lead to another and with no patterns or instructions to guide me, I somehow came up with this. Hope you enjoy.

original collar
Button is fully functional, making it easier to take on and off. I also embellished it with a baby blue piping just to give it a little more of a "pop".

pocket detail
GAP has this cool little detail where they make the last buttonhole in a contrasting purple.

funky purple satin lining
I wanted a cotton but this was all I had laying around.

full shot
Kept the original shirt hem.  I like how it was kinda scallop looking.  The buttons on the bodice is still operable, so you can store things in there if you wanted.

action shot
Thanks Laura for modeling it for me.

shirt before
Sorry didn't have a chance to iron it.
I apologize for the poor camera phone photos.  The first photo shows the true colors of the shirt.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Prince's newest shirt on: August 19, 2011 11:14:41 PM

Prince with his signature trick "The Sit-up" (but we say it in Chinese).

When possible I usually try to save details from the original shirt.

Shirt before deconstruction.

Thank you for the kind comments.
I used this
Simplicity 2695
Dog Clothes Coats Pet Go Green

It's easy and straight forward.

I also recommend Simplicity 2755.  I used it so many times that I will need to get another one when it goes on sale.

It use to be a medium sized man's shirt now its a medium sized dog shirt.  A size too big for Prince. I have to find a dog that fits it.  I used a pattern for this.

Thanks.  It was from a Vogue pattern.

It is loosely based on a pattern with a few modifications.

He is a Bichon Frise.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Prince's New Coat on: November 29, 2010 11:00:15 PM
It is getting chilly outside. So I decided to make Prince a new coat.  Made it from a pair of old corduroy pants.

Sorry for the poor picture quality.

Contrast with a cute little plaid and trim with a brown seam binding.

I am going to be an auntie soon.  She's arriving in March.  Made these with some small scraps of fabric that I had laying around.  Sorry for the crappy pics, didn't have my camera on me.

 I call them JEN'S.
