11  Re: Shop the Swap 43 **Shops Only!!** in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by freestyle on: October 01, 2010 01:20:17 PM

Shop is OPEN

All items come from a smoke-free, 2 dog house in Alexandria, VA.

HANDSPINNING available! PM me if you want your fiber spun and we'll work out the details.

DYED YARN

Experiment #2 (2 pts.)
Hand dyed mill spun wool. I'm happy to wind your yarn into a cake if you like- just put that in your PM.

Experiment #3 (2 pts.)
Hand dyed mill spun wool. I'm happy to wind your yarn into a cake if you like- just put that in your PM.

Experiment #4 (2 pts.)
Hand dyed mill spun wool. I'm happy to wind your yarn into a cake if you like- just put that in your PM.

BATTS AND ROVING
Into the Blue (1 pt. per oz; many ounces available)
The farm I purchased the roving from had it listed as fine Merino. However, after working with it, I think it is a BFL or BFL blend. What I can tell you for certain is that it's really soft and squishy. Felters: If you would like a smaller amount, I can send 1/2 oz. for 1/2 pt.

FREESTYLE FIBER
freestyle fiber- fiber clouds for your spinning or felting pleasure

NOTES: Fiber clouds contain locks hand flicked by me to open up the tips and remove VM. I try to get out all the VM I can, but a small amount may remain. I left out the sparkle so felters could use the clouds, but if you are a spinner and would like sparkle, just let me know and I'll glitz it up!!

freestyle fiber #3 (.5 pts.)
Cotswold locks, wool locks, alpaca, merino, bamboo, kid mohair (.6 oz)

freestyle fiber #4 (1 pt.)
Merino, cotswold locks, silk, llama, parendale, mohair (1 oz.)

My fiber is all set to go! I thought I'd put my inspiration here so everyone can read it. And maybe generate some excitement!  Cheesy

First I start with a general idea. This time I was feeling like creating something with an autumn feel. Next I troll my craft room for colors. I had some chocolate brown and tangerine that I thought would look lovely together. Doing a google image search I came across this:

Back in the fiber studio I start pulling fibers together, creating a giant pile of all the colors and fibers I want to include. Started carding, and I loved the first batt so much I decided to the same colorway for both my partners. The result: each of my partners will be getting 2.3 oz. of smooth batts containing Alpaca, Bamboo, Silk, Merino, Cormo, BFL, Rambouillet, Falkland, Soy Silk, Milk Protein, Mohair, Firestar, Tencel, and Angelina.

I can't wait to see what you guys think!!

Yay sarahj!! Work that wool!  Cheesy  Love the yarns and great job for your first dyeing attempt!

Slingmomma loved the plied yarn! You are making progress in leaps and bounds!

SewMamaLady, I looove the second pic. Those colors are so gorgeous.

Here's some yarn I spun up this week for oneredboot as a custom Shop the Swap claim. This pic was taken before it was washed- please excuse the leader yarn and ties.

And my latest dyed Merino roving, "Starburst".

Check out the awesome stuff slingmomma sent me!

Cute bag (love the fabrics!), thread catcher, handpainted penguin (I have a bit of a penguin obsession), and super tiny and cute needle book:

Jewelry! Oooo, love these necklaces and dangle earrings- in my favorite colors, blue and green!

A learn to crochet kit complete with samples, CD instructions/patterns, hooks, and practice yarn:

Glass pushpins- I *love* these and am taking them to work with me.

And, finally, the cutest little desk that slingmomma made into a pincushion!! Even my husband was impressed!

Thanks for dancing with me slingmomma!
