1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Video Game Swap on: April 05, 2016 06:50:10 PM
I AM ALLIIIIVVVEEE~ It's been ages since I've been here. AGES. But I am totally coming back for this swap! (Can't say no to a good nerd swap, and I still have/use a lot of the things I've gotten in previous swaps... someday I swear I'm going to PM all these people and thank them again.)

I would be up for any size swap, even a large? ALL THE NERD THINGS.  Cheesy But... uuuh... whoever DOES organize this, can you PM me when sign-ups open? I'm bad at checking back for sign-ups, and would be super bummed to miss this one.

Everything so far is adorable! BUT... prepare to be jealous!!

So I always list a ton of things on my "what do you want" list, to give people lots of options of what to make. I suggested, "Maybe something like http://artsycraftybabe.typepad.com/artsycrafty_babe/2009/06/the-people-have-spoken.html" and got:

A PHOEBE BAG. Look at that decorative stitching!!

Please tell me you did this with a machine, and not by hand. PLEASE. Because... wow! I've never thought to use a decorative stitch like this before, so I'm stealing the idea! And the straps look wonderful, don't know what you were complaining about.  Wink Next I said I needed a wallet, maybe something like http://www.sew4home.com/projects/fabric-art-accents/eclectic-elements-tim-holtz-coats-fabric-wallet and got:

THAT EXACT WALLET. With more decorative stitching on the inside!

Crazy! I also said I needed a tea wallet, and a little make-upy type bag...

...of which I got both, one filled with delicious, delicious candy and the other with a whole variety of TEA~ including a few Earl Grey, my favorite!!  Grin Then I said I liked big heavy zippers and got...

... a felt ruppe keychain (we're both Zelda fans!) and a... a.... pouch... made entirely out of a zipper. Like.... she took half a black and half a purple zipper, zipped them together, and... wrapped them... around.. .and sewed them... It just blows my mind, how do you do this?!  Shocked So that's literally EVERYTHING I put on my want list. Do you understand....? ALL OF IT.

Oh, and plus this:

A bear hat! Hilarious! I crochet/sell nerdy hats (seriously... like... I've probably made well over 100), but they're all a little too nerdy for me to want to wear in public, so I don't actually HAVE a hat to wear.... and now I do! Smiley

SOOOO~ Ninjaturtlegal, thank you for everything, it is all super lovely! I only hope my package can live up to yours....

Does anyone have any advice for attaching straps? I don't know why, but I am having a very hard time attaching the straps to the bag. I spent six hours last night hand sewing the lining piece and outside pieces so that I could sew them together without have anything but decorative stitches show, but the problem is, even though I cut them the same size and did the exact same thing for both of them, they don't match up. The lining piece ups up being bigger, and the strap is too thin and the interface is too thick to just turn them inside out. I don't have any idea what I am doing wrong. Suggestions?

SO MUCH WORK  Cry Sorry~!! Gosh. No need to send on time, you know! Don't kill yourself!

As for straps... gah, I'm not a fan. I usually use D or O rings? So you just have to sew on a little tab which the ring goes in, then the straps can be sewn however you like on to the rings... To inside-out thin things, you can use a chopstick or crochet hook to kind of force it right side out? Best of luck!

I... have two items done, and neither of them are the purse. Nor do they fit in the purse/really go in a purse.  Roll Eyes But they are are awesome! And I kinda sorta needed to make them after my partner's questionnaire... but! I have a very detailed, step-by-step picture tutorial of the purse I am making and all the materials (60% off Jo-Ann coupons are my favorite!), so it should be done in time.

Sent! I included links to like... 3 different sewing tutorials in my questionnaire.... all things I've wanted to make but am too lazy (or rather INDECISIVE ON FABRIC CHOICES) to make!  Cheesy I don't know what it is about crafting for yourself that is so much harder than crafting for someone else....

Finally, pictures! I don't have internet at home at the moment, so I'm sneaking a moment a work to post these. Wink Anyhoo, first off is a...

Starfox cellphone cozy! I really dig this basic-silhouette-style felt cutting! You can really tell it's Fox! Continuing this neat style, we have...

A Mega Man pillow! With Mega Man on one side, and either Elec Man or bad-MM1-box-art styled Mega Man on the other. Too cool!

Then a framed print! Oh my goodness, I actually recognize this art and love it! It was featured in Udon's Mega Man Tribute book, and... er, I also kinda sorta happen to have a picture in that book. http://bunniebard.deviantart.com/art/Some-Light-Reading-254501731 Grin

Next is a Mega Man perler bead, and an awesome painted box... or chest? Either was the painting is super awesome, and inside is...

A DUNGEON MAZE. Cheesy How hilarious is that?! It's got a Triforce, a little rolled up map, and an adorable little clay Link! The tip of his hat broke off in transport, but it should glue easily back on.

So THANKS Luvebuggy! So much stuff and I love it all! You totally went crazy over the point limit, I'm so spoiled....  Smiley

OOOOH MYYYY GOOOSH I am joining this swap, because I NEED a new wallet... mine is falling apart! I bought fabric to make myself one, but... you know how projects for yourself go... Roll Eyes

...watch me get a partner who wants a wallet and I'll totally make an epic one, though.  Cheesy I'll have my questionnaire in soon!

(I'm also really tickled pink by the "What's your favorite type of closure?" question!  Cheesy I wholeheartedly approve of this question. It is a crucial piece of information.)

Yeah, that Mama magnet actually was a knitting color chart I made for the Crafting Mama contest we had here a while back? But I never actually knit it... it's just as good in perler beads, though!!  Wink I also have a Word file for the cards; you can print them on Avery postcard sheets... would anybody want them? Amigurl? Grin

I ALSO got my package on Tuesday~ And it's super lovely~!!! But I haven't taken the photos off my camera yet, will do that soon!!

I LOVE THAT HOOPLA-- how do you even cut felt like that?? Also the rainbow mushrooms are adorable... and that Yoshi stamp! Gah, I can't carve linoleum to save my life, so impressive.

Mine and Luvebuggy's packages should be arriving today... I am excited!! Grin Luvebuggy, please forgive the box; I needed to make it two ounces lighter to save $3 in shipping (really now, $13 for just over 3 lbs is ridiculous).... so I cut off most of the inner flaps...  Cheesy It has a lot of bubble wrap in it though, so it should be fine.
