11  Re: Jar of Whimsies 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by spicytaco on: March 06, 2010 11:08:16 AM
Alright, so here's my great package from Luanne.

First off, the 'jar'. It's a Frankenstein box. I love Frankenstein.

Opened:

Pretty ribbons, and a piece of felt bacon. (Mmmm....bacon):

Tetris magnets. I actually already have some on my fridge and I can't wait to add these. I'd love to absolutely cover my fridge in them.

Photo key chain, mini canvases, a pretty tag and a ladybug that's a grocery bag (see next pick.)

Ladybug bag opened. This is so going in my purse.

Halloween glow things. There's a few more that missed the pic.

Some floss (which I always need), mini tea set, square stick glue (how neat), mini stapler, some beads, and a tea ball. I love it the most cause I bought one the other day, but it turned out too big for my tea pot. She sent me some tea too, but I think I missed it in the pics.

Some of my favs. Cute little crochet mushrooms, mini food, beads, little candles, and some roving with a needle for felting. Also a Montreal keychain which I love. My first real adult trip was to Montreal, but I lost the ring that I bought as a souvenir, so I love this.

An Archie comic (I love Archie!) and some pages from a french dictionary.

Tired yet, cause there's more. I feel very spoiled.
Bits of pretty fabric.

Cute beaded pins made with safety pins that don't photograph well. The left one's a heart and the right a goldfish.

Mini alphabet and symbol stamps, stamp pad, and some scrabble tiles. (Yay)

Pretty paper tags, glitter glue, beads, buttons, stickers, wire, and some blank artistic trading cards. Can't wait to make one. (It'll be my first time.)

Pretties.

One of the cute little mushrooms to finish off. Think I might make him into a pin.

Thanks so much Lunanne.

Alright so here's my last dotee. This one is from thelastkodama. Straight from Madagascar I give you......

...a cockroach. So I know a lot of people wouldn't want a cockroach, but I love it. He came bearing a couple very pretty chopsticks which Mr. Taco and I have been using to pinch each other with. Only problem is this little guy keeps skittering away and I keep finding him in weird places.

And finally I present you a group shot which provides proof that my partners took me seriously when I said I like things that are 'different' and 'weird'.

See you in the next round.   Wink

I have to apologize for taking forever to post this. It's got to be one of the most original and cool dotees I've recieved. (And this is my forth round.)

From PirateColey I got this wicked coffin dotee. So great.

It's face/skull is a wicked metal charm with a metal cross tail.

Thanks a million!!!!

14  Monster Tea Pot Cozy for my Mum in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by spicytaco on: December 17, 2009 05:12:00 PM
So a while ago my mum was telling me all about this guy at a craft sale she saw selling monster tea pot cozies. So of course that's what a made her for Christmas. Made from fleece, with felt eyes, teeth and horns, and lined with left over cotton from a quilt my mum made my niece.

On my tea pot. I made it so that it covers the whole pot instead of having the spout and handle out. You have to lift it off before pouring, but that's how my gram's cozy was and that's what I was thinking of.

Flat pic.

I pretty much just cut two half circle from the fleece and lining, add features, sewed right sides together with the horns inbetween the front and back, then attached the lining and the outside along the bottom leaving a hole for turning, turned and whip stitched to hole.

I'm totally going to make one for myself too, once Christmas is over with.

Questions, comments, tales of horror are welcome.

I picked up my super awesome package from pinky penguin today. So amazing. It's a sort of Franken-zombie-alice-in-wonderland rabbit.

Here he is. That's my cat Nacho peeking in there.

Hey you, get out of the way.

Oh noes! What did you do??

It's okay. Don't worry. Pinky Penguin made him with his arms and legs attached with snaps so they come off. I didn't actually let Nacho rip him apart.

Thanks so much Pinky.

16  Daniel Johnston embroidered purse with dancing skeleton lining. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by spicytaco on: November 09, 2009 06:35:40 PM
Hello. This is my first time posting on this board, but I'm just so pleased with this purse that I had to share. I used some extra fabric I had left over from a couple of swaps and cheap multi-pack embroidery thread. The pattern for the purse was one I bought on clearance for $1.99. It goes together really easily. It's suppose to have a zipper, but I didn't have one so mine's just open.

Then pattern for the embroidery I purchased from Sublime Stitching. It's drawings done by the fabulous artist/musician Daniel Johnston. I was actually working on this purse to take to his show in Toronto, but didn't finish it in time. (I only found out about the concert the day it was happening.) Originally I was just going to do the frog and Hi, How are you? but then when I had more time I decided to do more. It's done in split stitch and back stitch.

Full view.

Frog close up.

Eyeball close up. (I had fun with the stars.)

And his signature.

17  Re: 13 Days of Halloween Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by spicytaco on: October 05, 2009 11:57:15 AM
Alright, I finally retrieved the package MaRut sent me from my landlady today so I got to open a whole load of stuff.

Day 13:
A whole load of fun stuff. Toys, candy, stickers, nerd glasses and ceramic bat dish. Love it.

Day 12:
A Halloween dotee making kit. So cool. I love dotees. There's fabric, ribbon, thread and trinkets.

Day 11:
Spider web and creepy crawlers to hang out in it.

Day 10:
A bracelet and ring the MaRut made, an octopus hair clip (yay!), and a couple cat toys. It doesn't show well in the pic, but there's a cool Cheshire cat ring.

Day 9:
A really cute monster bag and a pumpkin carving kit. Can't wait to get a pumpkin.

Day 8:
This cool day of the dead skull and sparkley frame. (Sorry I forgot to rotate the pic.)

Day 7:
Skull Lights!!!!

Day 6:
This nifty halloween tree with poly clay ornaments. She tried to be a little gory for me and I love it. The green guy's eye is popping out and there's a severed thumb.

Day 5:
Pretty dish clothes the colour of halloween candy corn.

Day 3:
A really nice black and green scarf. I love it and wear it all the time.

Day 2: Something I think I asked for...a wreath.

Day 1: Last but not least, this beautiful afghan. It's so super. I keep it on my computer chair.

Thanks for everything so much Ma Rut. I love it.

Wow I'm feeling like a dork. I was sitting there looking at this dotee I received like a week ago from bongirl5 and realized, "I haven't posted a pic of this yet!" So here it is. Unfortunatly one of the rain drops can detached in the mail, but it's totally fixable.

I love these ones with the clay faces. So pretty. Thanks so much and sorry it took me ages to post a pic.

Here's my super creepy horror dotee from tazzsangel19. The pic doesn't really do the faces justice.

Cool right? I think it's pretty nifty.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post. I received this dotee from Ostera15 ages ago.

A couple peppers made from pepper fabric with little green bead beards. I love it.

She also threw in these wicked tetris magnets from my wist.

Thanks so much!

Hope you like your little monsters. I wanted to make monster dotees, and just decided to go kinda simple.
