Mom is amazing though and is making alterations seeing as she made the dress in the first place (I am wearing her wedding dress with a few changes, I wish I had pictures for you all). She also helped to make bouquets, boutonnieres, and unity candle stuff (of which I have lots of pictures!).I had to nap after the shopping trip because I was so tired but here are a few pics of the flowers and candles.
Here are the supplies all laid out... kind of overwhelming at first but once we got started everything worked out just fine.
Candle detail... I took a standard pillar candle and wrapped ribbon around it using straight pins to hold it in place while I hot glued it. In hind sight, the hot glue was a bad idea because it melted the candle a bit and didn't want to stay in place unless I held it the entire time it was cooling (rather time intensive).
Finished Candle... I really like how it turned out. I wanted white or silver pearls/balls in the middle of the x's of the ribbon but couldn't figure out how to get them to stay... I decided to push my straight pins all the way into the candle. The pins also help the ribbon stay in place better.
Mom shows me how to make a bow... she's really good at this kind of stuff as evidenced by all of her work with the bouquets and boutonnieres.
My first bow... pretty good, eh?
Boutonnier... mom did most of the work on these. I just hot glued everything in place.
Bridesmaid's bouquet... I learned how to wire and tape the flowers in place. I had never put together a silk flower bouquet before.
Bride's bouquet... I love how mine turned out!!! I just need to get some more of the pink ribbon to trail off the bow. We ran out before I could put more on.
Let me know what you think, eh?
