1  Re: *Fits in an Egg Swap Gallery!* in The Swap Gallery by punkrockgirl on: April 26, 2005 08:11:56 AM
I posted this in the main thread too, but I wanted to be sure everyone saw it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to check back in to make sure everyone got their stuff. Things have been a little crazy at my house the last few weeks. Our one remaining working car has been in the shop twice and we've all been sick at least once.

On Saturday morning my dog was hit by a car and died shortly after at the ER vet. I haven't even been able to send out Shotgun Bettie's stuff. I'm starting to feel a little better now, but this has hit me pretty hard and I find even the simplest things (like typing this message) to be pretty hard.

My dog was like another child to me in a way and I just miss her. Sad

Here's a pic of my pretty puppy.

Again, I'm sorry for the first swap I organized to end up so disorganized. Thanks for your patience everyone.

4  Re: Alice in Wonderland Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by punkrockgirl on: March 16, 2005 04:30:03 PM
I got my package from Rosebridejaya yesterday! OMG, I love everything soooooo much!

She was nice enough to ask me who my favorite characters are, and so she ended up making almost everything Queen of Hearts themed. Here is a picture of the awesome stuff I got:

(sorry the pic isn't the best- I have a super cheap digital camera)

I got:

-A yummy smelling potpourri filled fabric heart
-An oh so cute charm pin
-2 ribbon pins
-1 ribbon barette
-A super neat playing card decoupaged box- that even has heart shaped red and white trim!
-Also- you can see how excited I was about the charm keychain I got because it made it's way onto my keychain before I even took pictures of it.
-I also got a really pretty headband made of ribbon which I wear as a choker with some of the lace folded under.

Oh, and she also made me a little change purse with a beautiful alice inspired art print (Dali?) transfer on it:

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I hope squirrelgirl likes the stuff I sent half as much as I loved the stuff I got!

I just got my package from lilmissdogooder today. Thank you very much. Smiley

I got:

An old maid playing card magnet (What does the DAVIDSON imprint on the frame mean?)

A Bingo notebook

A Playing card notebook

A Bingo notepad

A bottlecap with dominos in it?

and

I really like the domino barrettes- or I will once I glue the dominos on that the postman knocked off. I also like the BINGO barrettes- very cute. I think I might put something on them to protect the cardboard letters so I can wear it lots without it getting ooky.

P.S. What are the green earrings from? I don't recognize them.

7  Fits in an egg swap :) in New Swap Theme Ideas by punkrockgirl on: February 27, 2005 01:37:29 AM
How about a swap where we make and send something that fits in one of these:

I think you could fit all sorts of interesting things in there, plus the egg shape is inherently protective of its' contents, so you could probably just tape it so it wouldn't come open then pop it in a padded envelope.

I'm thinking I could either make it a easter theme or just ask people general questions so we know we'll send them something they'd want.

What does everyone think?

8  Re: "stained glass" ornaments from Jolly Ranchers! in Winter Holidays by punkrockgirl on: November 26, 2004 05:58:21 PM
I love using jolly ranchers for holiday cookies and treats. We use them to make stained glass windows in our gingerbread creations too. Another way to use these is to put them in a pyrex measuring cup into the microwave for about 2 minutes, then stir, then put in for 10 or 15 seconds more if necessary, until they are very melty and pour it into the crevices/window spaces/etc... of whatever you have made. The tip about wrapping whatever it is in foil with cooking spray on is very smart, otherwise the candy just flows wherever it can.

Note: In my experience, there is no need to crush or cut up the candies beforehand- they seem to melt very well without doing that.

Here's a picture of the gingerbread votives they had in Sunset mag a few years back:

9  Stepped/Smooth record bowls in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by punkrockgirl on: November 18, 2004 11:30:18 PM
I saw these and wondered if I could make these as opposed to the usual record bowls:

(Stepped)

(Smooth)

Anybody tried to do something like this or have any ideas?

I know I missed the swap (plus I've not been a member for a month) but......If anyone has cool ideas on how to reuse game boards, let me know. I just picked up this one today:
