I also use DMC, mostly because I inherited a TON of it from my grandma who can't cross stitch anymore due to her eyesight. When I want to go for something a little more fancy, there is an indie dyer nearby that I buy it from. She doesn't have a website though, sorry =[
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: What's your fill-style? on: March 15, 2009 01:03:13 PM
I use satin stitch for smaller areas, for big ones, I really like the look of filling with chain stitch. It looks like knitted fabric to me. =]

Embroidering in ribbon is kinda fiddly. What I do it get some pretty satin fabric and hoop it as normal, then embroider the design across the fabric, then cut it to size and hem it nicely. I think it's a lot easier that way.

Hey, I am looking for a rather detailed pattern of a daffodil. I am going to jump into shaded embroidery with long and short stitch. That said I would rather it be more lifelike, as opposed to a stylized.

Halp??
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled tea towel on: March 04, 2009 03:02:07 PM
So when I moved out on my own my mom gave be a bunch of her old kitschy tea towels. Unfortunately, we don't really use them, so I decided that an apron made out of an old tea towel will be more loved. I made it up off the top of my head and it is the first thing I have ever sewn. I did all the sewing by hand, but I am not too confidant in  my hand sewing skills so I am hoping to borrow a sewing machine soon and run it through that.

Well, here it is. 'Scuse the pseudo-artistic photos.

Go easy =]
