2  Gerard Way Poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by RuffiesAndDuctTape on: January 09, 2009 11:24:55 AM
I can't stop making these things!

The latest installment of my band poppets is Mr. Gerard Arthur Way, the lead singer for My Chemical Romance!

I made him from the same red tag microsuede from Jo Ann's as my Ray poppet, but in a much lighter shade. His hair is Bernat Sport yarn from Michael's.

And  here he is with his Chemical Brother, Ray!

They'll get clothes someday, when I'm not too lazy. Cheesy

Thanks for looking!

3  My First Poppet; Raymond Toro! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by RuffiesAndDuctTape on: January 05, 2009 09:54:55 AM
I had slowly been collecting bits and pieces for my army of poppets I wanted to make, picking up eyes and buttons and yarn when sales came around. I had nearly everything in place; but I could never seem to find flesh-colored alova suede.

None of the fabrics stores around ever had any that didn't have embroidery or some sort of embellishment, and nothing else seemed to come along that would make the perfect poppet army.

And then it appeared.  Shocked

One day after unloading a truck that came into my work (I work at a Jo Ann's), I saw it. A tiny little bolt of four yards of this super soft microsuede in the PERFECT flesh tone. It crushed my heart when I saw it was five dollars per yard.

And then! After Christmas, when my wallet was nice and fat, the 50% off red tag sale came around! I immediately purchased it and began to sew like a mad woman!

After two days of sporadic work, my first poppet was born!

Meet Mr. Raymond Toro, the lead guitarist of My Chemical Romance!

He's currently in the nude, but hopefully in the next few days he'll have some nice black jeans and a little black tee-shirt.  Cheesy

His hair has to be my favorite part. It's so full and soft; something I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to obtain and keep him from being too top heavy.

Thanks for looking!
