1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / shirred summer dress on: June 12, 2009 12:35:49 PM
This is my first sewing project.  I thought this would be an easy project to start with (YEAH RIGHT).  The straps are too short, the shirring is crooked and my seams don't match up...other than that, it turned out great!  hehehe  Hope you enjoy it, my model is WAY cuter than the dress =)

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby blanket - first project on: April 03, 2009 08:15:14 PM
This is my first post and my first crochet project.  I got the pattern for this blanket from a book (the name escapes me right now) and it took almost 2 years to make.  I started it when I found out I was pregnant with my second child and she is now 15 months old.  I am pretty pleased but let me know what you think.  =)

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Shirring nightmare...please help =) on: April 03, 2009 07:55:26 PM
So,  I decided I would try and make a shirred dress using the instruction from a YouTube video
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsSZTHyCLyU/url]

I am having all kinds of issues with my elastic thread.  I wind the bobbin by hand, set my straight stitch to as long as possible and have my tension on 4 but when I try to sew everything gets tangled and I end up having to cut my bobbin out.  I have tried different stitch lengths and different tension setting but I cannot figure out what to do.  Also, I am new at sewing so this is really driving me crazy!

Thank you in advance for ideas.  =)
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Whip stitch versus single crochet on: September 13, 2008 07:55:20 PM
I am crocheting a baby blanket (my first project) and I need help.  I have made all of my granny squares and am about to attach them all together. The directions say to whip stitch them together but had someone suggest to me that I should single crochet them together.  Since I don't have much experience I was wondering if anyone can let me know which I should do.  I will try to add a picture so you can see.   Undecided  Thanks in advance
