hey Retro_rose !  Thats a wonderful pouch!  I'm sure Selvi will absolutely love it!   I do!
as for the sponsoring a child, I've kind of been holding out until my son was old enough to understand it.  He's almost 4, and I think he'll get it now.    That might sound a tad selfish maybe, but I want him to be in on it.  It think it will teach him some more empathy, and to realize the world is just so big, yet so small that we can make a difference!

Hey! My first swap partner ever! Hi! Smiley

I think it's wonderful you want to involve your son, kids understand more than we think. It's a great lesson. In my family when I was little, the charity that my parents had me take part in was a Christmas hamper project each year. We'd pick out an outfit and a toy for a child. I understood it then, and I'm sure your child will understand too. And I'm sure he'll be very excited to have a friend to write letters and send drawings to. Smiley

XD
We need to start some sort of charitable tradition as a family and I think this might be a good one.   I do loads of charitable things, but my son doesn't know it.  he needs to learn early, That way it will stick. Cheesy christmas hampers are a good idea too!
8844  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Outlander Swap Rd. 2 (Signups March 2-16 Sendouts April 20) on: March 14, 2009 08:05:04 PM
I finished reading this series 2 months ago, and I can't help but wonder what was life like after Brianna, Roger and the kids  left, and what was life like for them. They pop into my head randomly its weird that I've become so addicted to a book LOL  So many people I know can't seem to finish the books (they get a bit long winded by the 4th, as I'm sure you all know)  But I just had to finish them.  It took me nearly a year, but I finished.  and oops.. thats probably going to spoil it for those on this thread who are a short way through..........  Don't read the strikethrough!!! LOL

anyway.  With only a walfart with a dwindling fabric/craft section as my main resource for craft supplies.  And the promise to myself that I would not join another swap besides the birthday swap in april (yay my birthday!)   I am sadly going to pass on this one.  I will so join round 3 if there is one, and stalk the galery for this one and droooool over all the great goodies!
