wow! completely handstiched?!  well done!
And I totally get how you feel...  but then again I'm a fellow crafter...... Did all that stiching a baby blanket make the urge to have one go away, or did it make it stronger?

LOL you're welcome!   totally understandable.... Hate to break it by accident before you even get to use it... i've found it nearly indestructible.  My children have yanked, cranked and tipped it over onto themselves multiple times, and it has yet to fail me.  It's a great wheel... now to ask for a lace kit and a double treadle kit for christmas..... along with the drum carder...... Undecided

okay, so that's what a top view of it looks like, right?  see the right most portion, where the shaft (that's my technical term) of the flyer comes out the bobbin and onto the holder upper thingy?  you should beable to just lift the shaft directly up.  It'll feel stiff, like it doesn't want to let go, but it will.

at one end (the back) you should be able to lift the flyer up and pull the bobbin off, and replace it with another.   Mine is still kinda stiff when I remove a bobbin, I'm guessing yours is too.
For the lazy Kate, you just stick the bobbins on there, grab your singles and spin in the Opposite direction then what you have spun.  With the traveler it's not tensioned, so you have to pay close attention to what you are doing when you ply.
If you want to keep a single, I find it easier to put the yarn onto the niddy noddy while the bobbin is still on the flyer.  I loosen the brake band all the way, but it gives just enough tension so I don't get tangles in my yarn before it gets to the niddy noddy.

I hope that all makes sense and is helpful....
7910  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: September Felt-along - preparing for OCT 3rd. International felt-bombing on: September 28, 2009 05:43:10 PM
I've seen people torch their work in turkish rug making
(ie, big blowtorch that burns off the fuzzies)

Or take a disposable razor to it, and shave off the fuzzies ^_^

I'd be so afraid of setting it completley alight!!  but I do have disposable razors that could to the trick Smiley  Thanks!

oh and it may need starching.... it's turned out a bit weak on the bottom....  Undecided
