7346  COOKING / Dessert / The Devils Chocolate Cake on: February 14, 2010 05:09:16 PM
all I have to say is  Shocked
okay thats not all I have to say... lol
so of course Valentines day calls for chocolate and lots of it right? Well, this might have pushed the envelope just a bit.  To quote the husband: "it's like you took just enough chocolate, then added more." LOL
These are the recipes I used (so you can make your own chocolate overload cake)

the only thing I did differently was I used 70%cocoa chocolate in the ganache, and in place of buttercream milk I used whipping cream.
It looks delicious....

The cake fell... but thats cause it got thunked down first thing out of the oven....  but it made it possible to STUFF ganache into the cake.... zomg drool.

This is what the cake looked like when I thought I was finished it. It needed more so white chocolate hearts it was!

this is how I made the White chocolate hearts:
Melt  some white chocolate chips. spread onto a piece of parchement. I just free handed the shpes with a knife. If you are lucky enough to have a cookie cutter, use it!  you may need to let it sit awhile this way though.  Stick in freezer for 5 minutes, then pop out the pieces! Voila, delicious decorations  Grin

so yeah.. yum right?  hope your valentines day was wonderful too!!

7349  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: The random SPINNY babble thread :-) on: February 14, 2010 01:04:30 PM
I wanted Josie to be Claire, but that didn't fly with my husband. :/  So I sat in my room at the hospital staring at her for 3 days going through a baby name book.  Josie popped out at me in the list of shortened versions under Josephine.  So thats how she got her name... It also happens to be the feminine form of my BIL's name, so he said thanks Smiley lol   She was also nearly Jada Jane, but a close friend of mine named her last one Matilda Jayne, and our fiirst two already share a middle name (James) And it felt to much like I would be copying her... so Josephine Jada it is Cheesy

Hope your girls test came back clear!

Thanks Ladies!
okay so, Josephine Jada (we call her Josie, but she will grow up one day, hence the full name Josephine, incase she wants to be a lawyer or something)  January 4, 4:02pm, 8lbs 14oz, 21 3/4 inches (yeah, shes Loooooooooooooong)  She has piano hands (YAY!!!!) and the most beautiful fingernails.
Delivery was pie, elective c-section.  worst part is the recovery (i say 'is' because I'm still feeling the effects of being cut in half lol)
here she is a few days old:

She's a stubborn little monster(and thats a term of endearment around here.. she's wonderful) and refused to breastfeed  Cry  She lost nearly a pound in her first week and didn't gain any weight in the second week, so we had to put her on the bottle... she just wasn't getting it.  makes me super sad. I am happy to hear your little grandaughter is breastfeeding, MLF,  even after such a rough entry into the world.
