7191  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Secret Santa 2009 Swap Party (sign ups CLOSED; mail by 11/23/09) on: November 01, 2009 10:33:52 AM
I'm going to have to say that one of my favorite parts of the holiday is a tradition in my Family.  At supper time on christmas (what ever day we happen to celebrate it) we listen to Metro's christmas album.  Now this isn't the Metro that most people think of (some group out of a big center that plays more main stream music, I don't know who that is, but others seem to.)  It's this Metro:    www.metroscomedy.co m  It always brings back memories of going on a Twinkle tour and singing "Walking in my winter Underwears"  instead of "walking in a winter wonderland"  among other classic songs he switched about..... "FIVE GOLDEN RINGS, Of Kubasa...  Ahahhaaaaaaa"  LOL  anyway he is so worth checking out.  He's From Saskatchewan, he's probably my dads age, and we saw him live last christmas together. It was great.

Another favorite part is the sights in the big malls, all the big over the top decorations, everyone running around shopping... only I don't get to the big malls all that often and really relish that one time I do every season.

Of course there's the cookies, and the family and friends, and all that good stuff.. Turkey, ham, cranberries... Really It's all fun to me!

so i'm finally feeling better enough to create something and I realize now that my craft stash is a disaster!!!!  I can't find 1/2 my tools, my work space is covered in 1/2 finished projects i've started for myself and haven't gotten around to finishing, or scrap fabric.... Wow.. do I ever need an afternoon of un-interupted cleaning and organizing.... Maybe I'll convince the hubby to give me some time away from the kids tommorow so I can get this all done so I can create free of clutter....  Undecided  Sounds like we are in the same boat SimplyFabulous!

All I know is that I'm screwed up the Walmart backside because I'm rural.  I can't always go to the nearest craft stores (all an hour or more away).  I recycle/recon a lot from the local charity thrift shop and yard sales.  I order online when I have the $ (not often).  Sometimes, I can share a ride to the city with friends so none of us has to manage all the gas costs.  Generally, I have an "in the city" list that has to wait a month or 2 to be taken care of.

I hate Walmart.  Hate hate hate it.  And, we have a Dollar Tree, but I'm so sick of made in China that I could scream.  But, we're isolated, and I'm trapped here (believe me, I hate this backasswards, ignorant, intellectually devoid wasteland county).  So, what do I do?  *shrugs*

zomg do you live where i live?   Shocked Shocked
