341  Re: Canadian 55cent swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by Belladune on: July 29, 2010 01:43:50 PM
here are a couple pics of an acceptable envelope piled with 30g worth of goodies.  The challenge might be keeping it under 1/2 cm thick!

**Official stuff from my handy post office guide Cheesy  :
Envelopes Maximum: 245mm x156mm x5mm
Cards Maximum: 235mm x120mm x5mm
Minimum: 140mm x90mm x.18mm (but whos gonna try and send something that small! we wanna stuff em as best we can!)
Max weight: 30g**

So you will have your choice or card envelope and standard letter envelope.  how ever you can fit more or what you have, it's up to you which to use Cheesy

...Did you know that each month is dedicated to something... unusual?  September is Fall Hat Month!  How cool is that!  There are also holidays celebrating  ADHD, Mold awareness,  Pediatric Cancer, Waffle Week, Keep kids creative week,  Salami day.    And so many more then I should probably list.  Go have a look!

This swap is to celebrate those unknown or unusual holidays. Each swapper will chose 6 holidays from the lists provided. Each partner will choose from those 6 holidays and craft 3 small items for their partner. A small item is defined as: by time-2 or less hours; by size-earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks, magnets; by price-$10 or less. U.S. packages MUST have a DC#, and international packages must have a receipt. Please provide both to the organizer when you ship. Shipping priority is suggested but not a requirement.

In order for this to be a monthly swap we MUST have a fast turn around time. Due to the fast turn around time, the organizer reserves the right to not add someone to the swap if there has been a documented history of repeated late sending. Please do not sign up for this swap unless you are prepared to send on time, if not early, and post pictures as soon as your package arrives.

Communication is a must! You must check in on the original thread and the gallery thread at least once a week. You also must check in with your partner once a week. Poor communication or lack thereof will be noted in feedback.  You MUST PM both tlh878 and belladune  with your questionaire,  recived, late sending, and any other questions or concerns.

When PMing the organizers please start pms with the following:  MOH September

345  Re: Fiber Friday - July 9, 2010 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Belladune on: July 11, 2010 03:57:07 PM
okay so techinically it's sunday, and quite late on sunday to boot.  But I thought I'd share the one I sent in a swap pacakge, since she has recieved it Smiley

Random green wool (sooo soft though) with bits of merino spun in.  It is a 2 ply plied upon itself.  So does that make it 4 ply?  I'm not really sure how to label it.
you can sort of see here that it kinda looks braided, which was cool..

yarn pile Smiley

And a gratuitous shot of all the yarn I've spun over the last 6 months and finally got around to setting the twists.  It's all artsy, but it's yarn artsy, so... yay!

Who doesn't love a baby murloc?
I made this set of 4 coasters for Dinosaurus Meg in the Be Awesome swap.   They also have a cozie that has +20 to frost resist on it , you know, once they've been chilled by an ice cold drink?  Those baby murlocs need to be warmed some how Cheesy

Coasters- embroidered murlocs, crayon tinted.
Cozy- wet felted and stitched with homespun to give it a more finished look.

comments, questions, critique welcome!

349  CRIB SHEET turned pretty dress and then some! (PIC INTENSE!-8-) in CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES by Belladune on: July 02, 2010 04:47:09 PM
So no one said there was a size limit on the size of sheet used.  While a lot of people seem to be using king flats, I went with the smallest fitted sheet possible!
I squeezed a dress (lined with the sheet) little booty cover, cute shoes (Inspired  by this post and the link there in  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=348768.0  )  A waist bow, and a headband complete with a flower made of scraps out of that sheet!  All that's left is stuff that went into my scraps to be spun bag they were so small.

Be prepared to Squeeeeee!!!!

"Side view"

Bow detail:

Headband with "scraps" flower;

To show the sheet before.  It is sitting on a double sized futon matress

Close up of the the print:

One last picture of uber cuteness, just because I know you want to see it!

Don't forget to vote!

ETA!  I forgot to mention the elastic for the headband and the booty shorts came from the sheet to!! I used as much as I could off that sheet!  Oh and the shoes were hand sewn.  The big ones wanted play outside and I needed something to keep my hands busy Smiley

350  Re: Fiber Friday-June 25,2010 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Belladune on: June 25, 2010 11:20:55 AM
This is the yarn my 5 year old spun on my wheel. It started as pencil roving, so he didn't have to draft, he just controled the twist and treadled.

Future spinners yarn!
To show the variation in the color:

To show the variation in the twist:  not bad for a 5 year old really.
