331  Re: Fiber Friday 2/12/10 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Belladune on: February 12, 2010 11:25:24 AM
beauty!
I actually have something to contribute!
My son and I spun this up on a lace weight spindle, mind you it's no where near laceweight, just straight from pencil roving (my heavier spindle is in use)  But it worked.  Anyway, I'm going to send this off to pluckyfluff... now I just have to figure out how to share this on ravelry too... I forget lol
Merino- pretty colors -??yards

happy fiber friday!

332  Re: IYP 14 gallery of fabulousness!! in The Swap Gallery by Belladune on: January 11, 2010 12:33:11 PM
Finally pics! I recieved a fabulous package from Melvinator.

Gorgeous wreath that arrived in a few more pieces then it was supposed to.. :*(

Beautiful jewlery set.  Now I need to get all dolled up and go on a date with hubby wearing these fabulous pieces!

Christmas ornament.  To dang cute!  My three little peas Smiley  Done in polyclay, which is great, because I find sculpting anything impossible!

extra things Smiley I think I'll embroider the tea towel.  My 4 year old likes the wind up sushi Smiley

Of course this is not part of our swap package, but hey, I though you all would like to see her... or I just want to show her off.  Grin extra cuteness factor:

Thank you again!!! I can't wait to swap with you again!! just give me a month or so Wink

333  Many stitched calenders... (loads'o'pics) in Needlework: Completed Projects by Belladune on: December 28, 2009 06:50:38 PM
So a while back someone posted a calender they had purchased from September House Etsy and embroidered (I'll find that post and link it..... It was thejoyfojess, with this post:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=321753.0)  I thought they would make great gifts, so I bought 6 blanks and made each family member (and thier families) a calender.  I bought all embroidery designs from Ubarn Threads. Here are the results:

These ones went to my family (Parents, Sister, Brother)

all wrapped up and ready to go:

Close up of the parentals.  Went with a rainbow music theme, they both tinkle on the piano, so I thought this was a good way to go.

Close up of Sisters.  I had issues knowing where to finish this one off but I decided to stop as it was... hope they will like it.

I don't know what this stitch is that I used to fill in the bird, but I'm glad I used it.  It looks good Smiley

Close up of Brothers.  He's a machanic, and still only 22... I thought the girly fabric on the back was a good touch if he doesn't so much like the skull and cross wrenches.....

These are the ones that went to the In-laws.

Close up of the parental inlaws:

And closer still, so you can see the tiny stiches required to do all those tight turns.... (color is off because I couldn't quite get it to work with the flash, so I just used a bare bulb.. didn't work so well either... gotta figure that out one day)

Close up of the Brother inlaws.  They are currently a family of 3, so I added the little birdy in the middle.

this one is for us.  I relate to the quote, as I always seem scatter brained, but I know what I'm doing lol  It's stil a WIP... but hey I have a few more days to get it done Smiley  Also I don't know if I like how the dandelions turned out.. I might rip em out and re-do...

Some of the designs were slightly modified, so they would fit just right in the given frame.
The only people who recieved so far are the parental inlaws.  The MIL was impressed (she used to craft too, until her hands went wonky) so I was happy with that.  Nice to have your work appreciated!

Anyway, thank you to the person who posted the calender in the first place, they were tons of fun to stitch Cheesy

Oh and I stiched everyones birthdays on there too, so no one would have an excuse to forget!

335  Poppycock!!! yum :D in Dessert by Belladune on: December 23, 2009 09:10:29 AM
So yesterday, I searched this forum for a poppycock recipe and found NONE!  what!?!?!  so, I call up my mom and get her recipe, which I will share with you all, because whats christmas without popycock?  Heck, what's life like without poppycock?  sad I say Wink

Poppycock
2 cups light brown sugar
cup light corn syrup
1 cup butter
tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
1tsp Baking Soda
6 quarts of popcorn ( approx. 1 cup of unpopped popping corn)
2 cups assorted nuts (or your favorite kind)

Pop popcorn.  In a large sauce pan combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, cream of tartar and salt. Boil rapidly on medium heat stirring constantly until mixture reaches 250`F 9hard ball stage) Remove from heat.  Stir in soda, (mixture will rise) mix thoroughly and immediately poor over popped corn and stir until well coated. Add nuts, stir. Place coated corn in large buttered roasting pan,  bake for 1 hour at 250`f, stirring 3 or 4 times..  Store in air tight container.

Happy poppycock making!

336  Little starghan in Crochet: Completed Projects by Belladune on: December 19, 2009 10:54:19 AM
So I was in a fiber swap with Oddacity a while back and she sent me the most delish colored roving, pinks and yellows!  I immediatly began hoping that my Belly Friend was a girl as I knew exactly what I would make with it if said Belly Friend was a girl... Well,  We still don't know, as baby is still in belly, but I made this starghan anyway.. I sure hope I get to use it!  It's not big, but I intend it to be a lovey blanky and of course can slowly make it bigger as baby grows, and when I spin up more yarn to match.

anyway, enough yackin'... pics!

Me "modeling" it over the bump... yes beautiful pregnancy mask I know... Thats what happens folks.  be prepared.. LOL

and a close up of the center which after making a few more of these as pot holders (  which I don't have any pics of...)  I realized a better way of doing it, newb mistake, but eh, whatevs

Anyway I love this pattern.  you can just make it as big or as small as you want!  I think I love crocheting!

Hand pulled roving from Freestyle, spun up on the bobin.. still have 1/2 of it to go...  Hoping to try some coil with it.

And finally a FO!! This is from dyed roving I spun sent to me in a swap by Oddacity.  A crocheted
starghan!  I think I'll leave it this size, as its more as a lovey blanket for my belly friend if said belly friend comes out a girl.. Cheesy

339  Re: Secret Santa 2009 Swap Party Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Belladune on: December 19, 2009 09:04:48 AM
eee!  my secret Santa is sg1psychopath!!!! wooo!
She made me things off my list!  They are exactly the right colors.  And will match my dining set perfectly!

what I see when I open the box (minus the card Wink )

the "everything"  a Table runner, placemats, cloth napkins with napkin holders, dark chocolates (mmmmm dark chocolate  Grin ), some pretty candles and a monster.

Table runner and a placemat and a napkin in action with my wonderful model.

the reverse side (sorry the pics sideways.... Undecided)  but its the spanky side, so it will be used for fancier parties Smiley  I like that I can use it two ways  (and yes it needs to be pressed... once I go to use it, it will be Smiley)

and the monster, modeled by my 4.5 year old Smiley  Shortly after this pic was taken all sorts of hillarity insued, when the cat got a hold of it ..... chasing and diving for the monster... to much fun!

It is a wonderful package and I love it!!  We are the only people who ever invite people over for diner parties, because I think its fun to entertain.  So all this will be used often!

thank you thank you thank you!!!

ETA: the monster totally reminds me of the whatsit my grandma had once upon a time... Which looks pretty much exactly like him, only hers was a bit smaller.  I love him Smiley

i recieved my thank you "card" from elociNNicole...... zomg... it's such a wonderful "card"!!!!  definitly not what I was expecting, being a non birthday swapper, but wow! Thank YOU Nicole!
We are both alergic to alpaca, so she sent me some alpaca free fiber!  It's all so lovely and soft and wonderful! and the big blue batt is going to look soooooooooo good as a nuno felted scarf...  yummmmm Smiley  still not sure what to do with the pink, but I think it'll look good as a chunky art yarn!

sorry for the computer pics... I'll try and get better pics later.. I was to excited to share my thank you "card"!
