321  The best Trick or treat bags in town! in Halloween Decor and Parties by Belladune on: October 27, 2010 08:55:06 PM
My kids are spoiled.

I saw the embroidery pattern for the ghosties over at Urban Threads and I knew I had to get it and put it on something.  So they became trick or treat bag appliques!  I found the cool ghosts and witch hat fabric at my local quilting shop. It was all she had for Halloween fabric! Shocked
I also put one on a shirt for my husband, but I didn't get a pic of that yet.  Maybe on Halloween when everyone's all dressed up.

I like this guy's eyes.  I used the spider web stitch with a variegated floss.

Buttons for eyes for the boy who kinda likes Coraline

And pink for my only girl!

All three bags all ready to be over filled with candy!

322  Why? why is it doing this? [Thread looping on underside] in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by Belladune on: October 26, 2010 09:08:20 PM
Why is my machine doing this?  It's making loops on the under side of the fabric I'm sewing together.  It doesn't matter what the tension is, what bobbin I use, how much pressure my presser foot is putting down.  I've got the the right needle for weight of my fabric, it's a new needle.

just to show how often.  Those are happy little arrows I put on there.  They point to all the loops...

This isn't a problem for inner seams, but I can't do any top stitching where you will see the other side of the item (Like on a blanket)  I also think it sucks even if you can't see the other side.  I know it's there and it makes me crazy!

Help!  Please!

323  Re: Children's Scavenger Hunt GALLERY OF GOODNESS in The Swap Gallery by Belladune on: October 26, 2010 04:48:03 PM
I figured I upload pics of our wonderful goodies from the wonderful Slingmomma and Carson while supper thawed.  This pacakge is AWESOME!  all kinds of it.

Something long and Something Warm:  A scarf and a pair of fingerless mittens!

Something G and something Green:  a fabric matching Game and a Bag to keep it in.

Somthing to read:  'A' 'L' 'E' 'X' cards! they have a cute little cover and on the back are things that start with his letters!

Something made by Carson and something food related:  A bead necklace and a felt banana (Alex's favorite food)

Something to hug or snuggle: A blanket with a great big letter A!

Pics of the happy little boy, all adorned in his new gear!  (I saved a few of the things for christmas so not all of it, but he likes what he got, he sure will like all he will get too!)
eating the banana LOL

Discovering that the necklace has magnetic clasps and can stick to the fridge!

Again thank you so much!  he's all snuggled in the blanket watching Phineas and Ferb Cheesy

325  Re: ACTIVE: Granny-A-Day for OCTOBER start:10/01 - 10/31 in Crochetalongs by Belladune on: October 13, 2010 01:46:16 PM
12 done. So that makes me a bit behind on the "square a day" part, but I'm a heck of a lot further ahead then I would be without the inspiration and chatting here.
The stack (minus 2, because I was trying out my joining idea, and I'm not sure if I should do it that way or not.)

one of the ever so basic one colored shell stitch squares Smiley

I'll take proper camera pictures once I start putting it together.  Web cam in progress pics should work for now Smiley

326  Re: Givers and Needers Round 8 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Belladune on: October 09, 2010 12:30:09 PM
I gave the Box to my friend today!  I told her last night about her surprise, but wouldn't tell her what it was.  She hates when I do that.  I love it.. Cheesy   Anyway,  She says it will all go to good use!

There's a bit of clothing appropriate materials, all in nice chunks too!  All of them more then 1 a meter, some a lot more then a meter, it's awesome!  And some kid type fabric.  Which she just told me the other day she wants to learn how to quilt, so she's got the makings of a few good lap quilts there too!

Here She is cutting into the box (with the pretty tape Smiley)

All the goods lain out:

One happy sewing newb! (okay, she's not so much a newb, as someone who hasn't done a lot of sewing in the recent past, and didn't have a stash.  Now she does!)

Thank you so much Chris Sews!!

Details of swap:
This swap is for us Canadians!  The idea sprouted from the American 44cent swap (thanks lovesclutter for that bit of brilliance!).  This is our take on it!  Send 1 envelope, within country, Filled with crafted items, supplies, bits bobs, and any other crafty goodies you can possibly think of!  The only parameters I am setting are this: at least one item must be crafted and Your envelope must be NO BIGGER THEN  245mmx156mm (standard letter) OR 235mmx120mm (card)
I am allowing stuffing of that envelope until it could possibly burst (though I wouldn’t recommend that. Could you imagine the havoc craft supplies could reek on the machines at the post office?!  And how tragic would that be for your partner, never mind the post office!)

I reserve the right as organizer to refuse anyone that has a long history of late sending, or poor communication. This is an easy swap.
I also ask that you post in the thread at least once after partners are assigned.  Failure to post once will receive poor communication feedback
I am accepting first time swappers!

328  Cupcake Mama! in CHALLENGE 55 ENTRIES by Belladune on: October 01, 2010 07:51:01 AM
What better way to get my craft on with Crafting Mama, then by doing something Mama is quite comfortable in?  I enlisted the help of my kids and my hubby, making this a family challenge!
I was going to make the entire cover of the Crafting Mama, but it didn't fit on my table!  So I put her pretty blue scarf she made around her neck!  And because of the ridiculous amount of cupcakes, after laying them all out, I took them apart and spread the cupcake love around town!
10 hours
11cups of flour
6.25cups sugar
4 pounds of butter
4 pounds of icing sugar
Makes a total of 500+cupcakes!

There are only 414 that went into this, but it was great tasty fun!

Firstly the finished project:

ready to ice!

all ready to be spread around town

329  Ferb Monkey! (and a bean bag game) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Belladune on: September 25, 2010 06:41:11 AM
It's Ferb!  My son (who is 5.5) and I were in the Kids craft and swap and believe it or not, He sewed every seam, stuffed and attached limbs and eyes!  I did the nose and the hair and the required cutting.  He's a natural.  I might buy me a new sewing machine and give him my old one!
up close and personal

the whole guy

And the bonus bean bag game.  The boys got giant Kinder eggs for easter this year and I was holding onto those centers for a reason (though at the time I didn't know what) and then I thought of this!  6 bean bags you can toss into the cups.  it's pretty tricky because the opening and the bags are nearly the same size.

Enjoy and thanks for looking!

330  WIP bag and accessories in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Belladune on: September 25, 2010 06:27:20 AM
I made this bag and "accessories" for Missing_Muse in the Make a friend swap.  But I love it so much I thought It deserved it's own post.
I especially love the way it flukily ended up having that circle centered, which led me to adding the embroidery (from Urbanthreads.com).  Which made a small project a large one.  But i absolutely love how it turned out.  And so did Missing Muse, which is the point of all this swapping business:)
Anyway, onto my one pic. The bag the needle roll and the pin cushion (which is out of place but I was playing with the scraps and thought it was cute Smiley)

enjoy! And thanks for looking!
