1  UNITED STATES / Florida / Jacksonville Crochet/Knit group meeting this Sunday! on: September 29, 2010 06:16:59 AM
Hey all!

Just wanted to throw this out there, we have a small group of ladies getting together this weekend for the start of a new Jacksonville crochet and knit group. If you're interested, please let me know and I'll get you all the final details. It looks like we'll be meeting on Sunday early afternoons as well as a night during the week and you're welcome to come to either or both, which ever fits your schedule. Smiley

I've never done felting either, but have always wanted to try it. I got a group of people together to meet up to crochet and knit together if you're interested in coming out. Some of them have been crocheting for quite a while so I'm sure they could help answer your questions. We have our first meeting this Sunday afternoon and it will probably continue on Sundays and possibly one night during the week as well. If you're interested in coming out, I'll get you all the details.

There's no charge or anything, we got a free room at a library so all you need to bring is crafting materials and you're set! Smiley

Yeah, I use ravelry too. I only really use it for finished products though, not so much for notes, although I should probably start doing that. I started the scrapbook idea mainly because I wanted something physical I could flip through and be like ohh okay, that's what I used/did. Plus, I really want to show it to my grandmother, (I used to go up once a week for movie night and we would crochet together) but being away at school all year she doesn't get to see what all I make and she doesn't use online sites. And even though its years away yet, if I ever have a little girl who takes up crocheting, I have something to pass along Smiley

Hey, I don't know if you guys do any crocheting/knitting as well, but check out the thread I just posted about a crochet/knit group. Other crafters would also be just as welcome as I am a full supporter of all the crafting arts Smiley

Also.. just for a quick mention.

I am a member of the Crochet Guild of America <http://www.crochet.org>, a non-profit organization, if I can get a crochet group together, I would be interested in starting our own chapter in the Jacksonville area since the only official chapters they have are located along the west and southern coasts. There is no fee to be a member of a chapter, so there wouldn't be any cost to anyone, and I would be happy to pass along the crafting discounts and stuff I get. Smiley

Hello all!

I am a senior at Jacksonville University and am also an avid crocheter and beginner knitter. I am very interested in starting up a weekly, or bi-weekly crochet/knitting group in the area and was just looking to see if anyone would be interested in participating as well? I haven't worked out any of the specifics yet because I didn't want to fully invest all the time into looking for a location and all that if no one is interested.

But yeah, I was thinking of having it weekly and anyone could come whenever it fit their schedule. I had a "knit night" once a week at home and even though I was the youngest person there, by far, they were a ton of fun and we all learned a lot of new techniques and everything.

I would also be happy to help teach either if anyone is interested in that as well.

So if anyone is interested, or if anyone knows of one that is already out there, feel free to let me know and I'll go from there.

Thanks!

haha that does help a bit. I just had a folder of patterns I want to make, but somehow lost that. probably for the better, I really should attempt to finish the few I started. Dorm rooms don't give me enough space to keep on stashing stuff. Tongue

I have the same problem! Unless I'm working on a project for someone else, it takes forever to get finished. Like currently I have about 3 projects started just to work on, but something I'm working on for someone else is just about done. But I always forget what hook I was using and that kind of thing too! I usually write it on the pattern when I start since I get everything all mixed up. I swear I have like crochet ADD..haha

So for a while now, I have been meaning to start this project to keep a record of what projects I have made, what I used, any changes/notes on the project, as well as pictures and the pattern itself, but kept putting it off.

I finally started though! I got a scrapbook and some nifty decorative scrapbook paper for the background, and on one page I have my notes typed up all neat and a picture then on the follow page, the actual pattern to reference with my notes and stuff, kind of like a portfolio I guess?

I was just wondering if anyone else does the same kind of thing, or even just to simply throw the idea out there to anyone who wanted it. Smiley
