1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Nintendo Ensemble. on: January 21, 2010 09:00:42 PM

All made of fabric backed upholstery vinyl which is a little beastly to work with.
Featuring CONTROLLER zippered cell-phone size case and CARTRIDGE WALLET.

With nonsensical "BIKE" logo even though those are clearly rollerblades! Oh well. Also you may notice there are a bunch of loyalty card slots but no place to really put cash. That is because I don't have any!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / My kids rendered in corduroy on: December 19, 2009 12:00:00 PM
This is for my parents for Christmas. They said they'd like wall decor for Christmas, but my budget this year is $0, so instead of buying a painting, I made this. 2/3 of my kids. I can't paint, or sculpt, or anything like that, but I can sew.

It is all machine applique, on hand-cut pieces. It is 16"x20" so they can frame it if they like, but if not there are loops on the back for hanging it on the wall with a rod or by other means.

Closeup of Gavin's eyes.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Appliqued potholders (gifts) - House, Conan, Kanye, Stewart, Colbert, etc on: December 19, 2009 11:40:48 AM
These are gifts for my BIL, and 2 of my brothers. Potholders. Mostly machine hand-applique with a little bit of machine embroidery thrown in on the lettering.

Before I finished the bindings:

The backs are plain.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / I...like bugs. ! I LIKE BUGS! (first Halloween costume done) on: August 22, 2009 02:55:29 PM

1 halloween costume out of the way! It's modified Otto 01/2007, I used the toddler shirt and pants but skipped the snapping shoulder part, and added the hood from some other Otto pattern, but modified it a bit.

I knew I was doing OK when partway through sewing DS started saying "I SEE MUNO!!" :supercool:
Now he's saying "I MUNO! I MUNO!"

From Yo Gabba Gabba, if your kids don't watch it already.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Sewing for the nephew! All Otto all the time! on: July 31, 2008 12:32:04 PM
We are visiting Colorado next month for a NIN concert and to see my nephew, who'll be about 8 months. I had to take the opportunity to make teeny fall/winter things!

Velour pants with pockets:

Trains hoodie:

And coordinating navy/white octopus shirt. (Yeah I know, trains doesn't go with octopus, but the colors match OK?)

I didn't bother with interfacing / iron on on the shirt so the appliqu is sloppy, but I left edges free so hopefully it will fray up a little.

Cocoa shirt:

Dinosaur shirt. Made 2 of these.

Yay coverstitcher!

Coordinating dinosaur hoodie. I elected to add the rib around the hood and really like it I think.

And overalls that work over the cocoa shirt or with the dinosaur stuff:

I so <3 these.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / a mechanic-style coverall and a whole heap of crossover-neck dresses on: May 16, 2008 08:00:58 PM
Coverall. No snaps in it yet, for some reason I have a trillion studs and no sockets right now. Sad It's 0-3m size. No, I'm not pregnant. Just felt like sewing something tiny. I'll find it a home. It's from Ottobre's 1/07 issue.

And the heap of dresses, my own pattern. They are all different proportions because the sizes range from a 2T to an 8/9yrs.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Magical stripey instant-waist shirt! on: March 01, 2008 09:21:49 PM
Don't have a waist? Need one? This shirt to the rescue!

It looks even better when I am wearing a good bra...this was my "lazy sewing Saturday" bra and it's not working to my best advantage.

I used the wrong size needles in the serger and poked holes in the fabric.  Roll Eyes So I am going to redo it now that I have the correct needles in. I am going to add pockets in the black strip, at the bottom, 'cause it seems like that'd be cute.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / cars outfit with motorcycle style jacket (BOYS!) on: December 31, 2007 02:51:52 PM
For my SIL's future baby I made 2 knit shirts, 1 pair corduroy pants with cuffs, and a gray motorcycle jacket that reminds me a teeny bit of this Armani one. Did them all start to finish last night from Simplicity 3852 or 3582, I forget.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Something for a boy! Coat, shirt, and pants with trains theme. on: December 17, 2007 09:25:03 AM
Made with Simplicity 3582 for my pregnant SIL's future baby.

This was a pretty easy pattern - I didn't follow most of the directions because putting it together seemed intuitive. A lot of the pieces were separate for separate sizes, so I only had to trace off 4 pattern pieces. The jacket is fully lined.

Lesson learned: pay more attention to the wale on corduroy. I didn't on one of the pockets. It's less obvious IRL than in this picture.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / little boy in a Birds dress on: September 25, 2007 10:46:42 PM
What can I say, I don't have any girls to model and sewing boys clothes is pretty boring since you can't play with necklines at all.  Roll Eyes
This was my first attempt at drafting sleeves, I wanted cap-sleeves that weren't tight, and I think it worked well enough.
Oh also there's a small gap in the side so the whole tie thing can flip to whatever side of the dress is facing out. Wink
On to the pics - and ignore my sucky lighting, I always finish stuff at night and my sewing room lighting is terrible.
