21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Appliqued potholders (gifts) - House, Conan, Kanye, Stewart, Colbert, etc on: December 19, 2009 11:40:48 AM
These are gifts for my BIL, and 2 of my brothers. Potholders. Mostly machine hand-applique with a little bit of machine embroidery thrown in on the lettering.

Before I finished the bindings:

The backs are plain.

I *love* these especially your fabric choices. Fantastic!

LOL that is SO funny! I made the same costume for my youngest guy last year with the red fakie minky too!! That's so funny! Only I put snaps at the bottom so it was like a sleeper because he was only 8 months or so. Great job!

How funny! The minky is perfect for it. Wink I did the pants and shirt separate because DS goes to special preschool and the teachers will help him get his costume on for halloween, so I tried to make it simple.

Your daughter is such a doll. Lucky you to have such a cute model, and lucky her to have such a talented mom!

By the way I found this in a search and couldn't figure why there were no replies, as it turned out awesome but then I noticed you're in a weird category, you might have a mod move it to http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=329.0 because that's where the kid stuff is. Smiley

I LOVE this and my kids would love it too. I may copy you a little bit.  Wink

1 halloween costume out of the way! It's modified Otto 01/2007, I used the toddler shirt and pants but skipped the snapping shoulder part, and added the hood from some other Otto pattern, but modified it a bit.

I knew I was doing OK when partway through sewing DS started saying "I SEE MUNO!!" :supercool:
Now he's saying "I MUNO! I MUNO!"

From Yo Gabba Gabba, if your kids don't watch it already.

28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Gold Metallic Goddes Bathing Suit. EDIT.. NEW BOTTOMS!! on: September 02, 2008 05:11:31 AM
It looks great! Kudos on even attempting a swimsuit - I'm scared to even sew on that sort of fabric. But you did and it turned out great! I especially love the 2nd bottoms.

And because there's a lot of discussion about us disproportionately endowed women, I have to throw in a plug for bravissimo.com. They sell clothing, bras, and swimsuits made specifically for women that are busty but not large overall and I <3 them. I've been as large as a 32F and I hear your pain when it comes to swimsuit shopping at regular stores. Especially now that I've had and nursed kids, I need more support that I cannot get in an "L" top (baggy around the ribs) but I need the cup volume.

I love it. I love the fit on you,  and the fabric. I don't have that fabric but I'm pretty sure I have an Alexander Henry coordinate to it.
30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: my 80's goth-inspired prom dress! on: September 02, 2008 04:53:56 AM
It is awesome. It fits you perfectly, and I love the dotty waistband in contrast with the formality of the rest of the dress.

Plus I feel obligated to point out that I'm the other girl with the oingo-boingo-related username.  Wink
