21  Vintage photos! in Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions by mafiosagrrl on: October 09, 2009 04:01:43 PM
Hey there fellow crafters!  I don't know about you guys but I love vintage photos.  I always pick them up when I'm out thrifting.  I scan them so that I can use them for ATCs and art journals.  I thought you guys might like them too.  Let me know if you do, and I'll post more on here.

These are two of my favorites.  I call the top one, "Baby's 1st Steps"

Since I didn't know if people would be interested I'm just starting out with these.  However, there are more on my blog and lots more to come.  Come by and check them out.

22  Little onsies in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by mafiosagrrl on: September 29, 2009 04:13:43 PM
These were made for a friend.  I obviously haven't held a baby in a long time, because I couldn't get over how little the onsies were.

From the awesome Mitch O'Connell Artists Series.  I love to crayon tint!

I think this little guy came out of the SS book.

Thanks for looking!

I think I can keep this up, it's fun! I'm thrilled by my first offer to trade and encouraged to make hundreds, no, thousands, more.
My 2nd batch of ATCs-

24  Little lovlies! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mafiosagrrl on: September 15, 2009 02:06:46 PM
I whipped these guys up because I have dozens, er, thousands of little precut fabric squares.  Someday I plan to make a quilt with the squares but until then they are just gathering dust and need love! Made em with the yoyos, button and quilting clips.
For scale, these puppies are little!

A few of my favs, didn't want to drag ya down with tons.  To see pictures of the others you can feel free to check out my blog, http://mafiosagrrl.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-made-more-clips-normally-i-wouldnt.html

25  My first venture into the little world of ATCs in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by mafiosagrrl on: September 15, 2009 01:14:10 PM
I decided that I need another crafty hobby...well, not really, but I went ahead with that idea anyways.  Go with your first instinct, right?  My very first ATCs!
This little guy was made of scraps from my jar and then emboidered.

This little gal was whipped up using magazine scraps and recycled tissue paper.

For more details and another pic, check out my blog, http://mafiosagrrl.blogspot.com/2009/09/atcs.html
Please note that questions, comments, and rude remarks are welcomed and appreciated.  Thanks for looking and have a Craftastic day!

26  That's my name, don't wear it out! in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: August 31, 2009 06:01:52 PM
This is a little something I stitched up over the weekend.  Not only does it show my love for the late, great MJ but it's what everyone calls me.  Wow, so many hours of french knots...I'm crazy!  Wink

Thanks for looking! Comments, questions, and rude remarks are always welcome and appreciated.

27  Fig 1. The underpants worn by the rat in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: August 27, 2009 02:02:16 PM
I love, love, love Mary Roach!  This little guy appeared in the book Bonk.  I couldn't help myself, a rat in underwear!? Who could say no to that?   I might even do a series with fancy undies, cause who doesn't like fancy undies?

28  slighty offensive special request in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: August 26, 2009 04:14:05 PM
An old coworker requested these for his house. He says they are for guests  Cheesy I used a water soluble stabilizer on them but the terry cloth was still a pain.  I hate that thread gets stuck and pulls when the needle is being pulled through to the other side.....errrr Angry  I figured the terry cloth would make the lettering look a little wonky so I just used my handwriting...and it does look wonky so I'm glad I didn't spend too much time agonizing over a pretty font.  Questions, comments, rude remarks  Wink ?

29  owl mania- picture chubby in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: August 13, 2009 11:11:30 AM
I made this for my man for his birthday. He's a photographer and he likes owls, so I thought this would be perfect. I'm pretty sure that I got the pattern from a vintage embroidery pool on flikr... I just can't remember which one  Huh
Unfortunately, it's starting to sag in the frame since I made it back in may. I was hesitant to use something like spray adhesive because I didn't want it to discolor over time. And I didn't leave enough extra fabric on the sides to lace it up the back (measure twice, cut once. Meh, just start cutting- yeah thats me)
Anyways, just didn't want you to think I would frame and give it to him looking that crappy  Wink

For the eyes, I used glow in the dark thread from Sublime Stitching. As a photographer my DH was quick to point out the cloth over the camera should be black (ugh). I knew this, but the stripes were more fun, and they match his personality better.

30  Plain is boring! (Picture Chubby) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by mafiosagrrl on: August 13, 2009 10:21:49 AM
For years I've decorated the light switch covers in our house.  I guess cause I see em everyday I've never thought about posting them.  Prompted by the little showcase of them last week I decided to throw em up on here.
This first one is in my bedroom. Its a picture of my man and I  Grin

In my "studio"

In the hallway. The lighting for this was terrible (since Bob's light in the hallway shines green) so this is very washed out. On the actual switch it's nearly unnoticeable.  I had a roommate for years once before she realized Bob lived on the switch.

This is much closer to how it really looks, a little hard to see.
