hello again! so i think i was on here when i saw a post about recovering an old umbrella and ....well, i didn't have an old umbrella but i did have some really awesome japanese fabric that turned out to be waterproof, so i decided to give it a try i bought a semi cheap umbrella, took apart the canopy and made a pattern. i also made the little pieces that go under and on top of the canopy and the strap. it was a bit of work.... i folded all the inside seam allowances over each other to really make sure no water gets through the seams. my least favorite part would have to be handsewing it onto the frame. its a little loose due to the fact that the distance between the ribs turned out to be a little different on each side but im very happy with the results unfortunately i have yet to test it out....not much rain in ca....perhaps the shower.....

Hello!! Long time lurker first time poster
So my boyfriend is studying abroad in Japan. He's there for a year and so far its only been three months and we're both really missing each other. Luckily, I'll be going to visit him for Christmas (I'm leaving in 11 days!!! Woohoo!!!!) and I'm super excited but also really stressed out because I have to finish his Christmas presents and deal with a whole bunch of finals at the same time. Anyway I had this great idea to paint him some koi fish shoes because he loves koi fish. I don't really paint (I sew ), which is probably apparent, so the fish looks kinda wonky....but I think overall they turned out pretty good I drew the fish by hand and the kanji was traced (my kanji looks terrible). It says "koi." I used fabric paint because my Joann's sucks really hard when it comes to customer service and I was unable to find fabric medium
