11  More Shells Already in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: September 19, 2009 06:20:23 PM
Yeah, I got a REALLY good batch last time I went shell hunting and have more stuff done already!

This one is a spiral fragment and a reasonably flat orange jingle shell. Things with these jingle shells make me nervous because they're a bit fragile.

This one is little striped clams. I like this arrangement with them hanging from the bead.

Last but not least, adventures in colored wire. Okay, it's black, so I'm not too adventurous!

But hey, my red cotton cording arrived today, so the adventures in color will continue!

12  A Couple New Shells in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: September 14, 2009 12:34:14 PM
Here are a few recent seashell adventures... I swear my camera has bad DAYS. One batch of pics will be good, then the next week they come out like you see below. AND these have been shopped/sharpened/brightened and they still look like I took them through plastic wrap! Anyway...

This one is about 1.5 inches long. The fragment has a lot going on so I kept the wrap simple.

This one is such a neat rectangle shape... I get mixed results photographing dark fragments, it seems to make the wire "glow" and look blurry.

This isn't a shell fragment, but my new favorite stone. Lady at the shop said it's Crab Fire Agate.

This is truly an "Oooooh, shells!" post, but if anyone has any thoughts on my furry-wire picture issues, I'd love some advice! Thanks!

13  Some New Seashell Goodies in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: September 05, 2009 02:46:38 PM
Here are a few things I've done lately... I'm especially interested in hearing what you all think of the wireless ones.
Wireless #1 - shell fragment is wrapped with the cotton cord that turns into its necklace cord.

Wireless #2 - shell fragment embedded in polyclay, with a hole through the back to string the leather through.

This one, I just love this giant bead! It's big and fat and has nearly every shade of brown you can imagine in it.

Thanks for your input, y'all!

14  A few new things in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: August 15, 2009 07:05:51 AM
A couple new shell fragments, and a crazy heavy necklace that I think has one of everything I had at the time.
This is a glass ring with a shell fragment toggle

This is a piece of a large shell worn down to almost nothing, but it wrapped pretty

This one has shells, stones, beads, yada yada.

And a few links closer up. Don't know why it looks grainy, some of my pics just do that!

That one took forever to make, but it was fun!

15  Multiwrap thing in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: August 14, 2009 06:48:09 PM
I've seen these bracelets around and think they're cool... so I had to do a seashell version. Wraps around four times for a bracelet, twice around the neck for a choker or just loop over the head for a long necklace. It's braided cotton cord, magnetic clasp, and several seashells.

I just got some leather cord in assorted colors, so I think I'll do a variety. I really like wearing it as a bracelet. Makes me feel like a hippiechick!

16  Shells & Rings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: July 25, 2009 02:35:15 PM
Found some glass & metal ring beads in the clearance bin at the craft store. Here are a couple of them:
Green glass & black shark's eye shell

Silver metal & partial top of a whelk

And some earrings... it's crazy hard to find shells that look enough alike, even with a face in between them.
Cockles & margin shells

I don't remember what these ones are! (blush)

These actually look more alike than it seems from the picture... it must be the light bouncing off the wire or something.

Been a slight lull in production while I worked out my Twilight obsession, but I gotta get back in the groove!

17  New Shells & Etc. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: July 14, 2009 06:44:19 PM
Here are some recent goodies... a member of my family recently assaulted her stash of fimo, and sent me a huge bag of beads so it's not just shells!
This pendant is a shell fragment with stripes that match the rolled bead perfectly.

This bracelet has just about one of each type of bead she sent me, and each variety of shell I have.

This pendant is pieces of the mystery quartz-like substance I pick up at the beach - no fimo, but I have big love for this one.

It was mad crafting up in here, the beads were so inspirational! I have the BEST FAMILY EVAR!!!

18  Seashells & Not-shells in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: July 04, 2009 04:43:43 AM
Some recent goodies I'm excited about....

This bracelet is made from quartz (?) chunks I got from the beach right alongside the shells. This particular group is white/grey with some darker grey veiny inclusions. I have several that are smooth and round that will be the next to be used.

Ring made of random unidentifiable shell fragment

Pendant with moon snail shell fragment

I love the worn out shell fragments so much... but I must admit I'm grooving on those chunks of stone right now. I'm just thinking of them as giant sand!

19  Tree of Sea Life in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: June 29, 2009 09:27:37 AM
Jumping on the bandwagon, a little late... here's my version:

It's 28 gauge wire with little seashells. It's no Bubble Tree, but I like it!

20  Two Seashell Bracelets in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: June 22, 2009 11:44:37 AM
I have been seeing these in my head for weeks, and finally sat down and did it. I'm really excited about how they came out, especially the cuff one.

This one is nine shell fragments.

This one is five shark's eye/moon snail fragments.

Would love to hear what you all think!
