I've been wanting to make this for about 4 years now, and finally wanted to start crafting again...



I got the idea from a project I saw online.

I LOVE snowflakes. Secular and beautiful! I made Winter Solstice cards with snowflakes. Obviously, some came out better than others, but I need advice: what can I do to keep beads and glitter from falling off? A lot of these cards arrived to my friends with a lot of beads falling off. Help, please!

I once saw an episode of Murphy Brown when Murphy threw a funeral-themed party for Miles when he turned 30. I thought that was so clever. Now I've just turned 30, so I imitated the idea. Eulogies, tombstones, all that stuff.

I was Cavity Sam from the board game Operation. Yep, those are all of his organs (with the labels) velcro'ed on me. I had a little Operation mini lunch box in which I carried a pair of pliers so that people could remove my organs and put them back in the box. I got the idea (tho just the idea and I don't know if anyone actually implemented it) online somewhere.

I saw this dress on Ophelia in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (the film version) and have coveted it ever since. I don't have a picture of the original, or I would post it. Since I wanted something more colorful, I made mine in cobalt blue. This is a silk blend I got off of ebay. It is trimmed with blue grosgrain ribbon and seed pearls; the neckline and cuffs are trimmed with blue silk ribbon. I'm in the SCA and recently wore it to an event. Let me know if anyone wants close-ups of the trims.

This is the close-up of the cuff, showing the trim. I used midnight blue silk ribbon and ruffled it. I did the same thing with the neckline of the dress.

Here is a close-up of the trim on the bodice of the gown. It's hard to see in the photo, but I used a pale blue grosgrain ribbon and used small seed pearls in the center of each diamond. I had to do all the trim by hand, but it was OK since I did it while watching TV!

I went as Cavity Sam from Operation. I got the idea from somewhere online-- just the idea, not the picture, but had to do it as I already had an Operation mini lunch box. In it I carried a pair of pliers so people could remove my "organs," as well as any organs that had been removed. All of my organs were labeled on my unitard, such as Bread Basket, Butterflies in the Stomach, etc. An interactive costume!

These are the cakes I made for my friend Jon's birthday. Yes, they are actual cake, not pudding.

Not sure where to post this, but I figure suitcases are kind of like bags...right?
Here is a suitcase I decoupaged. Sorry the photos are not so great. I used images from a book of plans of vintage furniture.


I also needed a soft suitcase, as the one I had was old as the hills and really falling apart. To make this one, which I got at a thrift store, more interesting, I covered the trim with blue silk, using a hot glue gun, and used a silver sharpie to write Go USA on the front side. I figure this will keep me from being singled out for additional security at the airport.
