Yeah, I know a corset has been done in a previous dollar store challenge, but it wasn't underbust! And it (as well as the placemat corset this round, which IS fabulous!!) didn't have over 260 rose petals sewn to it one by one! This is my first challenge, and hopefully y'all think I deserve some beginner's luck!
All hail my sister, the lovely model! She's a little small for the corset, but I'll take it in for her.
And the in progress pics - from one petal to 100 to 264!!
I stitched these all individually with a machine. I bought two t-shirts, one roll of tulle, one package of rose petals, and three longstem wire flowers. Petals were used as loops instead of grommets. I removed the flowers and used the stems for boning. The tulle is the lace up the back. The first t-shirt was the base onto which the petals were sown and the second for lining. I can post a tutorial later, if you guys like - right now, time for work! <3
Here's the scoop - I'm trying to make a chocolate skeleton for a cake decoration. I've made a skeleton out of plaster of paris, and I need to figure out how to make a plastic mold of the plaster so I can have a mold for the chocolate. I thought about fusing plastic bags to the plaster, but I don't know how to do it, or if that even works. What can I do?
((Hoping I'm in the right topic - I figured ceramics, clay, whatever. I used plaster, I figure people in this forum use molds... Never ventured over here before, so I hope this is the right place! ))
My sister Jenna just gave birth to quadruplets a few days ago. She's home, but the quads probably won't be for a while. They were born at 25 weeks old, so they're all about the size of a piece of notebook paper and weigh between 1 lb 9 oz and 1 lb 12 oz. I love to crochet, and so I thought I'd make them each a blanket. I've been thinkin about doing squares so the blanket can grow with them, but I don't know. I haven't thought of anything that really stands out. I want them to have something really special and out of the ordinary. The two girls have a pink, green, and black room while the boys have a beach theme (in case those colors spark ideas). So I guess what I'm askin' for is suggestions as to what exactly I could crochet. Or even just sew/make/whatever, cuz I'm multi-talented. And humble. Oh, and if anyone is interested in just checkin' out her blog and finding out about the Quads, here's a lovely little link! <3 http://treverjennaeva.blogspot.com/
We save all our plastic bags from Wal Mart or wherever like you wouldn't believe. And the only thing we seem to use them for is as garbage bags in the bathrooms or Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. I want to do something fun with them. Any ideas, my friends? Thanks!
So, I have this pair of old black tennies my voice teacher gave me. They were comfy, but not so pretty. And when I say 'pretty' I mean fun to look at. So I scrounged around my house and found paint. I turned size 10 Predictions first into THIS:
Though they basically started like this:
Just with some pink acryllic paint and some clear top coat, for wood finishing, I think. I use what I can. After some time with black shiny fabric, lace fabric, and gold ribbon, I got THIS! Yes, I know the first pic is the right shoe, but I forgot to photograph the left one before making it fabulous. Sorry, no 'action shots'. I wore them in the snow, which faded them. So they need touchups... But it wasn't snowing when I left the house in them. They were fine until heck froze over. Here's pics from the sides and stuff. Yes, that's my foot in the corner.
I've got pics to put a tutorial together, if anyone cares. If no one does, I'm not taking the time for it.
Yup! My first time posting here at Craftster (I just joined the other day-ish) and I'm excited.
I've seen a lot of stuff about making wallets from cassettes, but don't the holders deserve some love? I think they do, which is why I spent all last night making this beauty. Okay, not ALL last night, but I had an insomnia attack and it felt like forever.
Anyway. Picture time! <3 They glare a bit, but that's what happens when ya photograph stuff covered in tape.
This is the front and back of my wallet. I themed it around the word "Love", in case you can't tell. I used gold wire to bind it shut, but I've discovered that the wire is unnecessary. It holds shut very well on its own.
And that's what the wallet looks like when it's open. It holds an awfully big amount of whatever. IDs or money or anything else you may want to store in it. Plus, it's about as personalized as a wallet can get, because you can use pics of yourself or family instead of magazine pics.
But you have to admit, those mag pics I used are pretty sweet. XD
