When I was about 14, I was going through my parents old records and I found myself listening to Carole King's Tapestry album. I was mesmerized by the picture of Carole on the album cover. She was serenely seated on a window seat, barefoot, wearing comfortable jeans and shirt, her hair a little frizzy and her needlework in her lap. I wanted to be like her.
Although I'd heard most of the songs on the album before, I had not heard the title track, and ever since, I lhave oved the idea of the sad tale being told on a wall tapestry in the way a quilt or hierolgyphics can be made to tell a story. It always inspires me to craft.
So I gathered scraps from my scrap bag and stitched them together as shown here:
and I then cross-stitched scenes from the song Tapestry (Lyrics here: http://www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/carole_king/tapestry-lyrics-111688.html) and I interspersed them with the quilted squares.
Here is my Tapestry tapestry
Hope you enjoy!
