41  Feedback please! in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by MrXStitch on: September 01, 2008 08:04:06 AM
Hi,
I'm trying to develop cross stitch patterns that may appeal to men more than the normal country cottage type scene. I keep coming up with ideas for pattern series and I'd be grateful if I could get feedback on them from you good folk.
I'm not going to sell all of the patterns, but am trying to make as many patterns as possible in the hope that some of them turn out alright.
Do you know what I mean? When you are trying to make things you have to just get on and make 'em and eventually you get past the "making crap" barrier and actually start making decent things. Or that's the theory.

Anyway, I always wanted to do a range of patterns on superhero icons, as I'm a comic book fan and I thought it would be cool.
So I present the following patterns for your consideration. I don't know if people would want to stitch such things, but I though the subject matter was kinda groovy.

Wolverine:

Silver Surfer:

Hulk:

I welcome all your thoughts, even if it's "Jamie - put the patterns down before anyone gets hurt..."  Grin

42  Stitching on my honeymoon in Needlework: Completed Projects by MrXStitch on: August 31, 2008 05:45:46 AM
So I got married on 8th August 2008 to my beautiful wife Alissa, and we went to Guernsey on honeymoon.
I took one of my cross stitch WIPs on holiday with us, but while we were out there we popped into a little craft shop in St. Sampson and bought a DMC pack of letter samplers. It had some linen in it, so I thought I'd do an A & J intertwined while on honeymoon as a nice creation to mark the occasion.
We found a picture frame and mounted it when we got home.

I'll take some better close-ups of it soon.

Seeing as you asked so nicely...  Grin

And this is the whole display - that's me on the left.

44  Samplers from an exhibition I did... in Needlework: Completed Projects by MrXStitch on: August 27, 2008 06:23:59 AM
Hi again,
Just thought I'd show you some of the samplers I did for a recent exhibition organised by a friend. I managed to make the six samplers in about six weeks, and went slightly loopy as a consequence.
But I was glad with the way they came out.
Anyway, here's three of my favourites:

The callouses on my fingers have faded now, as I begin preparations for another exhibition at the end of the year.
Enjoy!

45  Blackwork attempt in Needlework: Completed Projects by MrXStitch on: August 27, 2008 05:13:50 AM
Hi there,
I'm Jamie, AKA Mr X Stitch.
Been cross stitching for a few years now and am just starting an etsy business of cross stitch patterns. I've got two series at the moment, supercars and graffiti patterns.
But anyway, I didn't come on here to flog my wares, I came on here to say hi and to show you my latest creation.
I found a book of blackwork letters in a tiny needlepoint shop on the island of Guernsey and decided to do the following:

I've done a few other bits and bobs in my time, and had a few samplers exhibited at a local art exhibition - I'll post some pics from that later on.
I hope you like it, and if you don't, well... whatever...  Grin
