2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / pixel portrait project on: May 05, 2005 10:44:52 AM
This makes up my final project for my art G.C.S.E exam, worth 40% of my marks! Cheesy

We had 12 briefs to choose from and from mine, an unusual aspect of charactor, i decided upon creating this. 4 weeks later i had created all of the 2100+ tiles (+ is to account for misplacement) out of cardboard and covered them in a mixture of PVA, newspaper and water. Boy did my family pay for having such a creative relative, mwahaha, don't think my boyfriend liked being a minion either!!

In the actual exam, lasting 10 hours, i painted all of the tiles and glued them all down onto a sheet of card.
I'm so glad it's all over, and so are my hands! I enjoyed the process though and have plans for more big projects in the future!!

If you can't tell, it's me. Although it does make my chin look huge Shocked

30 x 70 tiles
75 x 175cm

Heres the link to the pic, enjoy!!

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / mosaic project on: March 09, 2005 02:16:20 PM
hey, I'm currently embarking on a project, creating a 144x144 pixel image of moi! thats 20,763 tiles!!

I'm in need of material ideas to use as the tiles or pieces, preferably square or circular in size, my mind is completely blank with good suggestions!!

The colours i am using are: black, white, blue, yellow, red and violet.

Some ideas i've had so far include:
+ lego bricks - however they mount up quite expensively
   + giant plastic beads ^^ditto i'd expect
+ collage of coloured images of the original...

and there im stuck! any ideas, however stupid they seem, would be a great help!! thanks!! Smiley

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Lego and bead earrings on: November 14, 2004 06:09:08 AM
Cheesy yey, im finally posting something i made!

Basically, I heated the pointy end of a safety pin using a candle, mmm scented.., and poked a hole through both ends of the lego.
Then I threaded the wire, 0.6mm aluminium silver plated, through and twisted it around the beads and attatched the earring things, i cant remember what they're called right now, to the top Cheesy

(please excuse the image quality..and i also think i need to clean the scanner Smiley)
