1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! on: June 12, 2011 07:41:51 PM
thank you! I used maple bacon and actually ended up making a triple batch - they're really good! The gifts go in the mail tomorrow, but I made so many that in the meantime I'm going to give them to the guys at work and not tell them what's in them. Monday should be interesting around the office...  Grin
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / cheap ikea bed + army blankets = fab! on: June 12, 2011 07:37:07 PM
My bedroom was a sad, sorry sight. Part of the problem was my Ikea unfinished pine bed frame (hey, it was cheap!).
inspired by this site http://manhattan-nest.com/2010/07/23/a-whole-mess-of-staples/
i decided to give it a go myself! I bought a piece of plywood cut to size and screwed it to the frame. I used batting to give a little padding to the headboard, stapled it in place, then covered it with an army blanket and stapled some more. I had already altered my bed a little by elongating the legs so that I could store underneath it, so i couldn't follow the blog example by padding the lower frame and staining the legs. Instead, I made a bedskirt with box-pleats at the corners for the legs.

I'm quite pleased with the results. It makes quite a big difference in the room as a whole. Well, that and putting my books on the bookshelf instead of just leaving them piled by the bed

I scoured the interwebs for a bacon-cookie recipe and yours sound and looks by far the best! I'm making at least a double batch of these to send out for father's day.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: *Deconstruct-Reconstruct* College Project on: June 10, 2011 06:27:15 PM
this is awesome! I can't believe you made that all out of two garments. I would totally wear this.
6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Advise on Reusing/Recycling Old Grad Stoles, etc. on: June 08, 2011 11:40:11 AM
What about soft fabric arts - curtain trim, valances, pillows?

I love this idea if there are any special patches or anything on the sashes or stoles. I can picture a gown used for the main pillow body with a girl scout sash diagonal across the body displaying all those hard-earned achievements.
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Telescope on: June 08, 2011 11:36:38 AM
Is the scope broken?
personally, I like telescopes as art pieces for display.

but I suppose if it was broken you could take it apart and use the pieces to create something entirely new. The mirrors could find their way into jewelery and the tube could possibly serve as a vase (depending on the length).

but if it wasn't broken, and i really didn't want it around, i'd see if anyone on craigslist might want to put it to use
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Anyone have a Facebook Page for their Etsy Shop? on: June 08, 2011 11:19:53 AM

definitely a work in progress - has anyone seen an increase in store traffic since creating a facebook page?
