1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mermaid! on: July 19, 2012 09:41:22 AM
I made this mermaid for a friend's daughter who will be turning 2 and getting a new baby brother or sister.  I used the pattern from the "Wee Wonderfuls:24 Dolls to Sew and Love" book and enlarged it.  She's made of polar fleece and the face is embroidered on.

Happy Summer!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Kawaii Bunny! on: May 01, 2012 11:40:22 AM
I got this cute book called "Sew Kawaii!" by Choly Knight, and I made this bunny!  It was super easy to make. Her book is really cute and has lots of great patterns.

The color in the picture isn't quite right because of the flash. It's a little more blue in real life.
The bunny is really squishy and fun to hug!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Disney Embroidery! Chip 'n Dale and Marie! on: May 01, 2012 11:36:39 AM
After participating in the Felt badge swap, I decided I needed to do some more Disney embroidery, this time for my self and to hang on my walls.

I did Chip 'n Dale!

Close ups:

They were attached by stitching them to the fabric, then I mounted it on an 8x8 canvas.  The fabric is from Japan I got on Etsy.

Then I did Marie - she's so cute!

Close up!

She was also stitched onto the fabric, then it was mounted on a posterboard, and I used lace to accent the edges. The fabric is also from Japan on Etsy.

The book I got the patterns off of is a Japanese Disney Felt Character Mascots book, that's all in Japanese!

Now I have some Disney wall art! Thanks for looking!
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / It's Bear Boy! on: January 25, 2012 12:15:23 PM
I had this idea for a little boy in a bear costume, so here it is. He's made of a really soft faux fur type material.  His face is out of wool felt and embroidered eyes. I'm thinking of making a Bunny Boy and Froggy Boy too.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / A Stitch wreath! on: December 20, 2011 09:53:33 AM
Let me preface this by saying I love Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch)!  I decided to make a wreath to hang up ( I might leave it up all year!). I bought a tinsel wreath from Target and wired on ribbon (in Stitch's colors) and wired on the various plush and figurines I had.  I made the bow by just gathering the ribbon and securing with wire.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Holiday Hoops! on: December 20, 2011 09:45:54 AM
Happy Hoopy Holidays!
I made these hoops using patterns from Urban Threads. I cut the patterns out of wool felt (I love this stuff!), and embroidered it onto fabric. I painted the wooden hoops to match the patterns.

Santa and a Reindeer

Santa - I love this image of him - he's a cute Santa!

Retro pink reindeer. I love the background fabric - skully Christmas animals!

They are hanging on my kitchen wall.

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Colorful Crayon Family on: March 20, 2011 07:39:33 PM
I made this crayon family from the pattern in the book "More Scrap Saver's Stitchery"  I shrunk the pattern to make the baby blue crayon. They are made of felt with black rick rack.

Family portrait.

Daddy crayon (representing my husband).

Mommy crayon (representing me).

Baby crayon (representing our dog).

Goofy shot.

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My Mini dog! on: March 14, 2011 11:52:28 AM
I haven't made miniature plushies in a while, but when I saw the book "Cute Dogs" by Chie Hayano, I had to revisit it. I decided to make the shih tzu, which is what my dog is (see my avatar).  I had to alter the pattern a little to get his ears and coloring right, but here he is!

I love his tongue! My real dog, Bobo, sticks his out like that when he's tired!

He has a big fluffy tail in real life too!

I had to make mini Bobo a pillow like his real life counterpart has.

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Meet Melinda! on: March 08, 2011 11:01:32 AM

This is Melinda! I made her using McCall's pattern M5826 Wacky creatures. It's a really easy pattern that you can mix and match the pieces to make whatever kind of creature you want.  She's made of polar fleece, felt for the face, and yarn for the hair.

I love her face and hair! I'm really pleased with how she came out.

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Stitch in stitches on: September 01, 2010 10:42:45 AM
I love Stitch! He is my favorite Disney character!
Several months ago, I finished embroidering a Stitch that I colored in with fabric markers.  I wasn't sure what to do with it, then I bought all these wonderful Stitch fabrics from Japan in this etsy shop  http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThisandThatFromJapan?ga_search_query=thisandthatfromjapan&ga_search_type=seller_usernames, and I knew I should make a wall hanging.
Then we moved.  Fast forward to now, where my sewing machine is set up in the living room while my room is being done (where the wall hanging will go).  Since I can't paint the walls til the room is done, I have to do something - sew!

On to pictures!

It's about 24inx24in. I quilted some of the elements to hold in the batting and outline some cute stuff!

A cute Stitch panel

Up-close of Stitch!

Another panel.

I had a lot of fun making this and can't wait until my room is done to hang it up!

Do you think I should put anything in the solid colored squares?  Comments and suggestions welcome!

If this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it - it is embroidery, I just made a quilt out of it.
