1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Monster Challenge 09 Vince, the Demon Peacock! on: February 22, 2009 09:00:36 AM
Hey everyone! This is my first post, so please bear with me.  Tongue

For the monsters challenge, I initially thought of the 'Seven Deadly Sins' that made monsters out of humans.
But how to turn that into a needle felted monster? I don't think I could do a full human! Instead, I thought of a monster that would prey upon vain people:

From the front, Vince looks like a normal peacock, however, on his back you see something a bit odd:

A Face?!?

Vince is actually a demon, who will tempt vain humans with his pretty feathers. Those who aren't vain see the face, and run away; but those who only want the feathers to make themselves more beautiful don't see it until its to late! The demon takes the beauty of the person, making itself even more attractive, and leaving a hideous person behind.

This was my first real felting project (I did some small practice pieces before) the main body was needle felted, and the back was a mixture of wet felting and needle felting. Then I added a small amount of embroidery for a few details.I think Vince is pretty cute, but I'd love to hear what you think of him!  Smiley

Also, does he qualify for the challenge? I'm not sure, I'm pretty new to all of this...  Tongue
