My Sister's friend, (my friend too!) just got promoted so we wanted to get her a little gift.  My sister will buy the card, big deal, and I made the purse!

The purse looks wonky, but it is not!  I promise!

I really like the simplicity of this one.  Approximately 10"x8".  Her favorite colors are black, brown, black and brown.  Did I mention black? 

Since she is a good friend of the family, she even deserves one of my Grandmother's buttons on the purse!

My big sister has three kids, 6, 3 & 3 months.  Her diaper bags have seen their day so I made her a special customized one.  I also made a diaper/wipes holder.  We saw these at Babies R Us and I thought since I am making the bag, I could make a matching holder.  I measured the wipes container and diapers and "winged" it.

I put elastic scrunchie things in the sides of the bag to hold bottles/sippy cups

My niece turned 12 and she wanted a more mature bag to carry her stuff in.  I opted for her favorite color combo, browns and blues.  She loved it and I was so happy.    My SIL wanted to steal it but I told her I would take an order for Christmas.

My friend's 6 year old daughter wants to be a Pretty Pink Pirate for Halloween.  We hit Joann's and $7.00 later, voila!  She will wear a white long sleeve shirt underneath, black leggings and black boots.  She is adorable and has brown hair cut in a perfect wedge with hazel eyes.  The pink is perfect for her!   

I have to say that I attempted an eye patch.  Totally frustrating.  It is sitting in the bottom of my trash can and will stay there.  My friend will buy a plain one and I will add some bling to it. 

 - The pink triangle on top will be a head scarf tied to the side with the pink polka dot ribbon.

Without going into much detail, I found out some horrible news on Monday that Hubby and I will not be adding to our family .  I am finding things to keep myself busy,( being a SAHM and having a 2.5 yo does that for you!  ) Sorry for the drama...

I love mermaids and wanted to do something to cheer myself up.  This is not from a pattern or anything but from one of my 4-5 sketchbooks.  And I promise the sketch is WAY better.  I am thinking that black cloth is not very forgiving so I may have to switch to a lighter colored fabric.  I love the way the colors pop on the black.

My sister wanted a purse that she could carry for herself, not for her three kids!  I just bought this fabric to make a birthday set for my niece who is turning 12.  The bag for my sister was a trial run.

The brown ribbon came up really shiny but it is just satin ribbon, nothing fancy.

Paint Storage

I wanted to come up with a better way to store my paints.  I have seen paint storage racks but I could never find them in a store.  So I decided to make my own.  I used several cardboard tubes from wrapping paper as well as blueprint tubes.  I tried using paper towel and toilet paper tubes but they were not sturdy enough. 

I cut the tubes into 3 inch sections with a jigsaw.  After they were cut, I taped them together in rows holding 10 for the small rolls and 7 for the larger.  Needing something to hold everything together, I used a box and cut it up to be the dimensions that would fit my “tube rows”.  I then constructed the box, holding everything together with white duct tape.  I then poured a crap load of glue all over the bottom of the box and started stacking the tube rows.  When I place one row on top of the next I added more glue to the parts that touched.  I let it dry for 48 hours just to be safe.  I have this sitting on a table but I do plan on making a new one that I can hang.

Fabric Storage

I have had this shoe organizer forever and I held on to it because “I knew I would use it again someday!”  Don’t we all have stuff like this?    So I tipped it on its side and now I have a storage bin thingy for my fabric.  I like how it keeps them stacked nice.  I need to do a better job folding the fabric so I can see it better.  I think I may also paint the organizer because the pattern bothers me.  I think I bought this at Target/Walmart/Kmart for $5 - $7. 

So I ramble… let me know what you think!

Ok, so I am the first to tell you that I have never embroidered.  The last time I used embroidery thread I was in junior high school making friendship bracelets.  No needles involved.  So thanks to craftygurlllll, I have decided to give it a try.

Every stitch I made was intentional, the inconsistent short and long, the crisscrossing... I thought it would add character, as if I do not have enough to dish out!  I do not like the way my french knots turned out but I really like them and will practice those.  I made this pattern up as I went along.

I wanted to thank someone for helping us with our son.  So, instead of getting her a gift card to Starbucks (which seems so impersonal ), I made her a jewelry set.  Her favorite color is green, so I went with lime.
