1  Apron mania!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nepthaphis on: March 09, 2009 12:29:40 PM
It seems all my girlfriends' birthdays are either in February and March, so I've been on a roll sewing aprons for a bunch of them. All fabric was bought on eBay and I had a lot of fun finding the perfect print to reflect the receivers likes and color preferences  Smiley

Pattern is Butterick B4945.

Chocolate apron:

Blue and brown apron:

Birdie apron:

Now I think I'll need to make one for myself as well, but first I've got to find that perfect fabric....  Wink

2  Snowflake hairsticks and earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by nepthaphis on: December 05, 2008 08:18:46 AM
Just finished these - snowflake and freshwater pearl hairsticks and earrings  Smiley

They'll be part of a winter-theme Xmas present for my sister in law

Hopefully she'll like them (or I'll steal them back and take them for myself... *lol*)

3  Cats cats cats - Xmas card for 2008 and kitten-painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by nepthaphis on: December 02, 2008 01:21:45 PM
I've not been painting or drawing for ages and it's really hard to get started again, but I've been doing some illustration work for the local Humane Society lately (designing T-shirts), and they asked me to make them a picture of two kittens to use in an adoption campaign, so I set to it.

This is the result, which I guess is passable  Smiley Aquarelle painting.

(Of course my boyfriend thinks the fluffy kitty in the back is trying to put the moves on the tabby in front... *lol*)

Being on a kitty-painting roll, I deccided to try painting something to use for an Xmas card this year too, and ended up with this which I feel quite happy with. Kind of a stylized white kitty with a bell on her tail (and a small head - I know..) Aquarelle painting touched up in PhotoShop (mainly fading the edges) and printed on heavy paper. I used a transparent glitter pen to add some highlights, but it doesn't really show up in the scan. Gave it a bit of a festive feel however  Smiley

4  Wall decals for kitties :) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by nepthaphis on: December 02, 2008 01:09:55 PM
Hi  Smiley

So many of you Craftsters have made the most amazing wall decals from contact paper, and I fell in love with the idea!

In our house we've got a wall that's part of the chimney so we can't really hang any pictures or anything on it, but I figured a bit of contact paper would be allowed (we're not using the chimney since sadly we don't have a fireplace). Incidentally the corner where the chimney wall is located, is where our kitties have their toilets/sand boxes, so I thought I'd give them something to look at whilst...erh...doing their business.

This is what I came up with - inspiration came from pictures on the Net, and was freehanded onto the contact paper and then cut out:

I'm sorry about the crappy angle, but it's in a corner and terribly hard to photograph  Smiley

The kitties seemed to enjoy it and was staring at the birds for the longest time *lol* Especially our girl My who's quite a hunter and brings home little gifts for the family to enjoy quite frequently.

Guess I've gotta post a pictures of the babies too... My's the shorthaired lady on top of the sofa, and Largo's the fuzzy hunk pretending to be asleep *lol*

5  Xmas presents and a big hello :) - UPDATED in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nepthaphis on: December 02, 2008 12:51:20 PM
Hello all  Smiley

I've deccided to come out of the lurking-closet and give a little back to all you amazing and talented craftsters by showing some of the stuff I dabble in...

Since Xmas is creeping ever closer, I thought I'd start with some Xmas presents I've made for some of my buddies:
(I apologize for the less than perfect quality of the photos - the light in my workroom is less than ideal, and I'm no expert photographer)

Being a newbie, I'm not allowed to post pictures yet, but please click on the links!

Rune/galdr poet shirt with machine embroideries. Made from black linen blend with ties at the neck and cuffs and a rather deep neckline (recipients insistent wish *lol*) Little inset picture shows detail of embroidery on upper sleeve

Detail of back embroidery:

Bat miniskirt - gorgeous bat vinyl print soft tulle (yay eBay!!) over blue satin

..and matching bat velvet and lace choker
The choker has blue crystals sewn on the lace around the bat, but I couldn't get them to show up in the pictures  Undecided

Japanese-themed bondage shirt for one of my male friends (sorry it fits my dressform rather poorly - it's a female dressform and the shirt's made for a guy  Smiley ) Black cotton and black/red/white kanji-fabric.

Back and sleeve detail:

- I still have several more gifts to finish, so I'll post more as soon as they're done.

Hope you enjoy!  Smiley
