11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Mug Rug Swap r2 (SU Closed, Send out 10/17/11) on: September 28, 2011 11:04:46 PM
Checking in...I bought fabric, but I'm going out of town this weekend. Maybe I'll bring it with me...can't decide.

Hopefully this weekend I'll sketch a plan and go buy fabric...I need to finally figure out where the nearest quilting store is located.

I need one of these to add some personality to my bare desk...bare except for all of the coffee rings, that is.
14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Dragon Age: Origins Chibi Alistair (My first embroidery) on: September 05, 2011 12:03:08 PM
Have you ever licked a lamp post in winter?

It's very cute! I am impressed with your ability to make a recognizable chibi version of the character.

I agree, it would be cute if the rose and/or heart were filled in in pink or red.
15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Changeling and my little pony on: August 12, 2011 08:49:29 PM
I haven't posted any embroidery for quite a while, partially because I've been making gifts with great personal relevance but not great craftsmanship...

Here is one of the gifts. It's a picture of our Changeling party (from the World of Darkness roleplaying game); the present is of course for the DM, who is awesome. Basically, they're a group of people who were kidnapped by fairies and came back psychologically messed up but with a variety of neat skills and powers.

I took the general idea and overall chibi person pattern from that excellent firefly cross stitch I've seen on here.

Here are some terribly lit photos of another cross stitch. My roommate uses 'Applebuck season' (after Ep. 4 of the new MLP:FIM) to describe her overworked days, so I made her the following:

I dig the Firefly reference, but I actually really like the hot air balloon the best. The mechanical line details are excellent.

I found some screenshots online, overlayed a grid in photoshop, and then just looked at it and decided which color was in each square (with a lot of anime, there will be one color for light and one for shadow on each object, so it's not very difficult to figure out how squares fall in each region).
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Swap Gallery (Send-outs Sept 20) on: October 12, 2010 08:36:39 PM
Eek, I am so late to post this, but I finally found my camera. lurv2knit sent me a beautiful linework bird in variegated thread.

I really like it; I need to put a nail in the wall so I can hang it up in my room.

I can only stitch when I'm watching something or listening to NPR, otherwise I get bored...that said, made huge progress on the hoop a few days ago stitching while playing Changeling: The Lost (modern horror pencil and paper roleplaying). Self = nerd...
20  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OTVGT or One Tiny Video Game Thing Gallery!!! on: September 03, 2010 04:44:52 PM
So lanysmiles was fantastic enough to angel for me in this swap, and she sent THE BEST PACKAGE EVER. I'm sorry for the all caps, but it is wonderful and my roommates can attest to my happy reaction ("Aaaaaaaaaah! This is awesome! Aaaaaaah!" etc. etc)

It included excellent extras, so I'll show you the whole conglomeration of things: the tiny video game object, which is a Companion Cube pencil case made of canvas and yarn; an awesome embroidered Tremere tag; felt-tipped pens to fill the pencil case; cute moleskine notebooks; a card; a book of quotes from Irish writers; and a tiny mouse compass. So excellent!

A closeup of the companion cube.

A blurry closeup of the Tremere tag.

Made my day; actually, made my week. Thank you so much, Elaine!
