2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Testers - amigurumi mushroom !!!COMPLETE THANKS!!! (12/17/08) on: December 11, 2008 08:55:38 PM
Hi! I just finished my very first pattern  Grin and am in need of 2-3 people to test it out!

This pattern is an amigurumi pattern.

I wrote down notes as I crocheted and want to double check that everything is correct and understandable before I try to publish it somewhere.

If you are interested PM me.

Please only reply if you really have time to test and are willing to send me feedback and a pic of your finished project ASAP.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Neighbor, this crap's for you! (2nd x-stitch) on: December 04, 2008 08:31:02 PM
Okay so I guess this x-stitch is kinda addictive... Now I'm going to have to go out and buy some real floss....

I made this one for my neighbor, who has shown me that the word "seriously" can be used as a noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb, verb, etc etc etc..... I have seriously never heard anyone use the word as much as her. Smiley

Once again I did not use floss- it's crochet thread. And I wanted it to be glittery... so I rummaged through the glazes I use on my polymer clay and voila! Sparkle Glaze! I think it will also help it lay better in the frame because as it dries its stiffens the fabric...

and now I will stop talking your head off!!!

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mom, this crap's for you! on: December 04, 2008 09:14:47 AM
**DISCLAIMER -- I don't do needlework. I don't like needles and needles don't like me. I prefer hooks and yarn, or polymer clay and my hands. So what you are about to see is not pretty.  Wink **

When you have children, you will notice that some things about you change. For instance, you can no have the potty mouth of a truck driver. I have 2 small children and recently my mom pointed out to me that I say "Holy crap" an awful lot. This is because I am refraining from saying the phrase I am actually thinking.

So with this thought in mind; when I found a blank piece of cross stitch material, I decided to give it a try. I didn't read any instructions anywhere and I didn't even use thread or floss or whatever it is you are supposed to use. (It's crochet thread, in case you were wondering)

So, Mom, this crap's for you!

and I did discover one thing while working on this project.....
needles and thread aren't all that bad... maybe there will be a reconciliation in the future  Grin

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / The Story of the LINT BUNNY (amigurumi) (IMG HEAVY!) on: December 02, 2008 07:49:13 PM
It was laundry day, and all was going well...
when I opened my dryer and my eyes fell....

...upon a tiny little lint bunny poised to munch on a sock!
I let out a squeal and gave him quite a shock!

He leaped up and squealed right back at me...
Then dived deep down into the laundry...

"Oh please little bunny, please come out!"
"I promise not to scream or shout...."

I promised him love and lots of free socks...
And out poked his face as quick as a fox...

I gave him a home...
and some room to roam...

and now on laundry day...
there is nothing to dismay...
for i have a tiny assistant...
who's never very distant!

comments welcome!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Writing patterns? on: November 29, 2008 09:57:40 AM
Hi everyone!

I have a question about writing crochet patterns....

I have been scribbling down notes for years on things I have made and am thinking about starting to publish my own patterns somehow.

so my question---> what makes a good pattern a good pattern?

What information makes a pattern stand out?

I am thinking that a lot of my patterns could be basic patterns that have lots of different creative ideas for personalizing each item.

Thanks ahead of time for any input you provide!
8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / amigurumi jelly-octofish! on: November 26, 2008 07:00:16 PM
Hi everyone! I used to crochet a long time ago...
and then polymer clay took over my life...

But I am making a crochet comeback....

I made this little guy intending him to look like a jellyfish... but it seems thats subjective... half the people who have seen him so far think he's a jellyfish... the other half think he's an octopus.... SO... I have decided he is a jelly-octofish!

Jelly-octofish is entirely freeform... So there is no pattern to go with him... I don't even quite remember how I crocheted him (I was watching a House marathon)  Grin

Thanks for looking! I welcome any and all comments!
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / mixed media kokeshi dolls on: November 18, 2008 04:12:42 PM
Hi! This is my first post anywhere other than the polymer clay board....

The kokeshi pictured are kind of an experiment in working with new materials....

They are wood forms with polymer clay hair buns glued on. They are completely handpainted and then glossed with triple thick glaze.

Share your thoughts please!!! ^_^
