2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help! what should i do? on: May 05, 2010 09:34:15 AM
So I decided to make a pillow for my husband with the horde symbol on one side and alliance symbol on the other, so i found a cross stitch chart, counted it up, and crocheted up a front. What I didn't take into account was that my stitches would be taller than they were wide, so now my pillow is tall and awkward looking.... I though about removing the bottom rows and folding the top rows down when I stitched the sides together, but then I remembered my alliance symbol is that tall, so I can't do that. Is there a way to fix this without completely unraveling the whole thing and starting over? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's my front...

p.s. the symbol doesn't look so scraggly in real life

How do you get the pattern? When I go to the link it just gives me the list of supplies needed, but no pattern. Am I just not smart enough to find it?Huh

Yes, I noticed that too.  Undecided It seems like maybe you need to register to get the pattern, so I did, but it still only listed supplies.

That's what I was thinking, so I registered too, but nothing.....wish I could figure it out.  Sad

maybe something like this:

using either the black or the green for the hip bump things and the shoulder poofs? and maybe dying the dress a different color if you don't like the look of the white. you can maybe do the sleeves like this:

or you can do the green dress over the white dress like this:

with maybe some added gold trim.

i'm not sure if the green would be long enough, but maybe you could split the white dress and put the green in the split like this:

hope i helped!
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Mario cross stitch words on: October 01, 2009 12:01:45 PM
My husband is making a mario cross stitch where mario is over a turtle about to jump on it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for wording? You craftsters are super smart so I know I won't be disappointed!

This is the mario he's doing, but without the background and mario over the turtle. Thanks!!
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Newbie-What to sew on: May 18, 2009 07:58:40 AM
So, I just got a sewing machine for my birthday and I have some fabric that my mom gave me. I made a pillow (success!) but I want to do something else. I don't want to go out and buy stuff because I'd like to get some practice first. So, does anyone know any simple (and free) patterns?

Thanks!

P.S. This is what the fabric I have looks like:

I have about 1 1/2 yards I think.

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: "_____ in a box" gift ideas. on: November 26, 2008 07:05:37 AM
My husband and I are extremely tight on money right now, so we probably won't be getting many people much for Christmas.  Sad We think we are getting his sister The Notebook on DVD, but I would like to get her more that that. What kind of theme can you think of to include this movie, and what other things should I put in the box? Huh

Thanks in advance!

Also (again lol) she's from England. I don't know if that helps anyone with helping me get some ideas.
