I continue to be amazed at the variety of birds that everyone has made.  We are all some awesome-ly creative people!!!

I received this beautiful silk screened scarf from Kung Pow today, isn't it amazing?  My daughter tried to steal it from me she loved it so much  Wink

Thanks a million Kung Pow!!!

I received the neatest little bird yesterday from Jrain.  I call him "Davis".  I can't get over how different all of the birds are, it's so exciting to open every package!

And here he is:

Thanks Jrain!!!  He's wonderful!

And as soon as I hit "post" on my last post, DH brought me the rest of the mail  Tongue  Apparently, our mailman delivers packages first, THEN envelopes.  Anyway, this arrived today as well and with a little sleuthing, I'm pretty sure this amazing bird necklace is from Vanyel.  I'm speechless, this is absolutely gorgeous!  Thank you so much!!!!

I received my second birdie yesterday.  I'm sorry, I can't figure out how to match the real name with the craftster name so this one came from Amy in Missouri.  Isn't she beautiful?  Her name is Signe Smiley

I rec'd this adorable felt owl in my favorite colors (they match my craft room!) from rainbow_storms yesterday, it's the first one I've gotten and it's going to be SO watching all of the other birds fly into my mailbox over the next couple of weeks.  Isn't he great?  I've named him Olle Smiley

38  Thanks for the memories..... in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by OhThat on: April 07, 2009 10:45:26 PM
I am an obsessive receipt, ticket, brochure, etc. hoarder when I travel.  I love fonts and words and finding them in foreign languages is like a gold mine to me.  This past summer, my husband and I took our children to visit my bestest and dearest friend in Sweden.  This required traveling from Ohio to Toronto to catch our flight, then to Amsterdam, then to Copenhagen and when we returned home 2 weeks later, Stockholm to Delft to Amsterdam to Toronto.  LOTS of opportunities for little pieces of paper  Cheesy  I wanted a neat way to have a reason to keep these bits an pieces and I'm too lazy to scrapbook, so I took an IKEA end table (the cheapie type that costs about $10 and did a receipt/brochure/etc. collage then used polyurethene to seal it all up with.  I don't think it turn out too terribly and it certainly is a conversation piece.  Plus my kids love to look at it and say "hey, I remember that place"  Grin

39  Hey Kool-Aid! Ohhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhh in Halloween Costumes by OhThat on: November 05, 2008 05:17:02 AM
My 9 year old declared he wanted to be "The Kool-Aid Guy" for Halloween this year.  Thankfully, he told me this in August because I had NO idea how I was going to pull it off.

I don't have any pics of the construction because I made it during a week-long power outtage courtesy of Hurricane Ike and my camera battery went dead.

But, the finished product:

(of course, he had pulled his arm in when I took this pic, normally he has two arms Smiley

The "ice cubes" were cellophane sheets that I had squirreled away.  I wrapped the cellophane over a box, like I was gift wrapping it, using clear packing tape so it would have a "cube" shape, then taped it to the top of the costume.
