Sorry I've been away for so long. My wonderful hubby had back surgery and then we went through a round of colds, sniffles and just pain yuckiness. He's doing well and no more drippy noses.
I just finished my newest sculpture, Merkitty. I designed it from one of my aceos that I painted a few years ago. This one was a real challenge for me and I must admit I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I love, love, love working with paperclay. It lets me sculpt more complicated pieces then when I was sculpting in wax and making my own molds. I also like creating one of a kinds because recreating the same piece over and over makes my brain freeze ... lol
My newest work is a Zombie head candy dish. I had been wanting to try sculpting lidded candy bowls but didn't have a clue as to how so I just starting playing around till I figured it out. This one turned out so gruesome and icky and I think it needs to have gummy worms in it. lol
Size is approx 5 1/2" tall x 5 1/4 wide. Sculpted in paperclay.
I'm making some candy bowls from my paperclay and I'd like to make sure the final finish on the bowls interior is food safe. I'm painting the bowls with acrylic paints and normaly would use a polycrylic varnish for a protective finish but that's not food safe. I've been looking all over the internet for days and am not finding a food safe product that would work on paperclay. Anyone know of a product that is food safe?
I do and I just caught one! I was doing my weekly cleaning, trying to vacuum under my bed when all of a sudden my vacuum got plugged with something. Great, I just vacuumed up another one of my hubbahubby's socks! Was I surprised to see what the vacuum really got plugged with! Yes, I had caught a sock alright but it was in the mouth of the biggest dust bunny I've ever seen! After I pulled him out of the hose all he said to me was, "What sock?"
Dust E. Bunny - "What sock?" Size: 7 1/4 inches tall Sculpted in Creative Papaclay
I finished this a few days ago. It's a mime snowman ornament and he's sculpted in paperclay. His collar is wired ribbon. I found oodles of all different color wired ribbons on sale after the holidays and bought lots and lots of rolls.
This is the 6th ornament in my Snowman series. I think I like this one the best. It's sculpted in paperclay and from bottom to top of wire is 5 1/2". It's very light and hangs beautiful. I think that's one of the things I like about paperclay, it's so light weight when dry but very hard and it takes paints beautifully.
