32  Froggie altered book IMAGE HEAVY in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: September 15, 2008 03:01:34 PM
I found a bunch of those children's books with the really thick pages at a garage sale and decided to try my hand at altering a book. This is the first one I made.

Title is "Welcome to my pad"
The dragon fly is polymer clay with copper wire around it's wings. The cover is handmade paper with real leaves and stuff embedded in the fibers.

I glued most of the inside pages together then cut out the center to make a recessed area to sculpt my frog and his surrounding pieces. The frog's eyes are real glass eyes.

I made pockets on the inside of the front and back covers so I could put 3 of my frog aceos in the book.

Hope you all like it.

33  Bumble Bears! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Lady Rando on: August 20, 2008 12:21:48 PM
I love creating fantasy art and these are some of my Bumble Bears.

"Just Ducky"

"Making Friends"

"Planting Sunshine"

"Sunny Dreams"

I sculpted these out of an oil based clay, then made a latex mold from the originals, then cast them in hydrostone and then .... whew ....... painted with acrylics and finished with a polycrylic matte varnish. (I know, I'm nuts but hey, the ride is interesting.)
Thanks for looking.

34  Fossil Alien Mouse in Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: August 19, 2008 02:57:03 PM
I made this for my hubby and he uses it on his gaming computer. Surprisingly comfortable to use.

I pulled the mouse apart then sculpted the "skin" with auto bondo. When it set I took my dremel to it to add more detail then painted it with enamel paints. You have to wear a respirator when working with auto bondo and safety glasses when using a dremel so don't try it without proper protection.

35  Dragon Gargoyle in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Lady Rando on: August 19, 2008 06:44:58 AM
This is Liadan (Grey Lady). She's cast in hydrostone and is 5" tall x 6" wide. I have two kids, one likes dragons and the other likes gargoyles so I put the two ideas together and Liadan was born.  Grin

37  Dog Gargoyle in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Lady Rando on: August 18, 2008 01:10:07 PM
I love sculpting gargoyles. This is my dog gargoyle "Nipper". He's really brought some amazing things into my life. Grin  I actually got to be a featured artist on HGTV's "That's Clever" show showing how I sculpted, made my own mold and then cast Nipper in hydrostone.

Here is a link to my tutorial for those of you that may want to see how I did this.

39  Hello everyone, new member sharing her art. in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: August 15, 2008 02:08:08 PM
Hello everyone! I literally stumbled across this forum while seaching for tutorials. Hope you don't mind a newbie showing off some of her stuff?

This is a barrel bead necklace I just finished.

Here is a pendant I did. The nose is real black onyx.

This is a pendant I call "The Potter's Shard" I was trying to show that life can bloom from broken pieces.

This was a comissioned pendant. It has antique glass beads and fresh water pearls in it and I hand paint all my eyes.

Wind - the hole is through the length of this pendant.
