11  Jester Moon ornament in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: November 12, 2009 04:58:24 AM
Funny how you start out to create something one way and it ends up turning out completely different than what you had in mind. I have told people in the past that when I'm sculpting it's almost as if I step out of my body and am watching the process as an onlooker. I think this is when my muse has her way and she and the art just do whatever they want.

That's what happened with my newest ornament. It's so far from where I thought I'd go with it that I must have not only stepped out of my body, I left the room completely.

Sculpted in paperclay

13  Snowmen ornaments in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: November 05, 2009 06:41:44 AM
With halloween behind us and Christmas speeding our way I decided it was time to switch gears and start making new things for the season. Unfortunetly my back doesn't agree and went out a few days ago making it near impossible to spend long periods in my studio. Despite that I did manage to create 2 new snowman ornaments.

Both are paperclay. The berries on the tophat are real cranberry pearls.

16  Owl and Pumpkin pie in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: October 17, 2009 05:02:15 PM
Just finished "Cheers to pie" It's sculpted in paperclay and stands about 4 1/2" tall. It's painted with acylics and protected with polycrylic varnish. I wrote a poem to go with it but it's kinda long. You can read it on my Tilted Asylum blog if you'd like.

17  Pumpkin pendant in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: October 08, 2009 06:16:16 PM
I'm really happy with the way this pendant turned out. It's done in polymer clay and has antiqued copper wire bails. It's 2 1/2 inches from top bail to bottom pumpkin leaf.  The whole thing, including the wires, is protected with a polycrylic varnish. Since the barrel is hollow it's actually very light and comfortable to wear.

These barrel beads are a challenge to make but I sure do like the results.

18  Blue Moon sculpture in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Lady Rando on: October 03, 2009 04:07:19 PM
I finally finished my "Blue Moon" sculpture. It's a little over 12" tall and it's the largest one I've done in polymer clay so far. The moon is polymer clay but the base is paperclay sculpted over a wood base I had laying around.

I painted the moon with my new airbrush. Well, it's not actually new new, my hubbahubby bought it for me about a year ago. I really didn't know how to use it and was a bit intimidated by it but I finally pulled it off my shelf, mixed up my paints, plugged in the compressor and blew paint at watercolor paper until I felt comfortable using it. Wow, it was alot easier than I thought and I am now IN LOVE with my airbrush. All Hubbahubby had to say was, "It's about time." He was grinning a big grin so I know he was happy I finally used it.

My friend Sandy is going to love this. Sandy, I'm coming over to your house tomorrow to give you your sculpture and a big hug for all the help you've given us.
