I like the basket weave stitch Thisusernameistaken. It makes me want to start knitting again. The owl mask is very cite and fun.

lindy--I guess I am not sure what makes a shrine different than a diorama, or Altoids tin scene, etc. Is a shrine something that is suppose to honor something? I might just be getting hung up on the word...I am not that religious, but shrine makes me think of worship/honor...
I am just wondering the same thing.

Lovely Valentine dish mat, That1girl. I'm sure your partner put a lot of thinking in the choice of fabrics she used.

Lacey, your partner worked fast and did a great job. It seems she had a lot of fun at a Disney theme park. What a lucky girl!

My partner always finds something to do before the cards she promised. She said not to worry, she will make them on time, that she started thinking about them. She's finished a batch of jam though. As long as I get the jam, I'm happy.
643  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Whittled edelweiss on: August 03, 2014 11:50:55 AM

I visited my parents for a few weeks in the Alps. While I was there, I saw some beautiful mountain flowers called edelweiss.

At the library,  I saw a beautiful big wooden flower. After trimming the trees, I decided I could try to carve some. It was my first attempt at whittling branches and it was quite enjoyable.

Summer challenge entry:
I visited my parents for a few weeks in the Alps. I took my brand new never used carving knifes received at Christmas with me, in my checked luggage of course! While I was there, I saw some beautiful mountain flowers called edelweiss.

After a visit to the library where I saw a big wooden flower, I decided to use some twigs from trimming the trees to try to carve some.

It is related to the summer since it is a summer flower and I carved it during summer. Wink
