1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Play Food Sweat Shop Swap: Veggie Round 1 Gallery on: July 18, 2009 09:13:28 AM
Hey ladies, I'm sending late today. I have lots of good excuses that include my license being revoked for medical reasons and meetings for the special needs camp I'm a counsellor for next month, but at the end of the day i'm a big fat bum who is mailing late. So, sorry sorry sorry, ladies!!!!

Also, I got an onion and some beans in the mail yesterday! My dd and her little friend that I was babysitting for immediatly started to fight over them. I'm pretty sure that's a good sign! Wink
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / bulletin board / little by little on: July 17, 2009 08:03:15 PM

DD modelling the bulletin board I made for her room... Now, *i* realize you don't need to model a bulletin board. But apparently she didn't, cos she just jumped right in there. Goodness knows I can't get her to model nicely when I sew her some clothes, of course.

WIP of bulletin board (sorry i don't have the original, but trust me, HI-DE-OUS! old and used and homemade)

Little area... little by little i'm putting my DD's room together...
sorry, this was taken in the dark. LOL.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: simplicity dress (my toughguy hubby helped make this! d'aww!) on: July 17, 2009 07:13:39 PM
That is an adorable dress! Love it! And she looks darn pleased with it, too! Smiley

So since your daughter transformed your husband, does he count as her first craft project?  Wink
LOL why yes, i think it does Wink haha. too funny.

thanks guys, the whole thing gives me a giggle, too.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / simplicity dress (my toughguy hubby helped make this! d'aww!) on: July 14, 2009 07:20:18 PM

I loved this fabric so I had to buy it, and then buy a pattern for a dress to make with it. This is actually a pretty complex pattern for such a simple looking dress. There's like, six godets, the top is fully lined, the ruffles seem to be done in the most complex way possible, the instructions are in engrishican, etc etc etc. But I pushed through it! i especially love that it is a faux wrap top with ruffles on the wrap part. tres cute.

It needs a new ribbon, I just grabbed something from my stash, I want something wider. Oh and something that isn't the backside of a patterned ribbon LOL.

The cutest thing about this dress? my HUSBAND helped me with it! so cute, i know. He pulled out the gathering stitches from the sleeves when I was done sewing the bodice, and he also helped pinning the godets onto the skirt pieces while i started sewing the other half of the skirt. Such a crap pinner, but I didn't say a word because I was just too tickled that he was helping.

funny what a baby girl will do to a man. This:

becomes this:

and then he starts making dresses. Cheesy

(and yes, that is a canada flag down his pants in that first one, and fairy wings on his back in the second)

I actually just blogged a messypic the other day!
http://onthelaundryline.blogspot.com/2009/07/wip-officecraft-room.html
My to do list:
-go through fabric and refashions and organize (CHECK! wasn't all done in the blog post, but it is now!)
-get those boxes of crud off the floor (CHECK! but okay, they're just moved, not emptied)
-empty the boxes one at a time
-do some actual decorating in that room
-do some rearranging and make a reading tent corner for my 2 yr old
-find an L desk so I can have a bills/business/computer side and a craft side
-organize the second bookshelf

i like the new one better than the old one, the old was was neat but i think it wouldn't be very relaxing for a bedroom. This one is cool, very streamlined. Plus if i was some single lady you were taking home i'd be like "DANG. KEEPER." then again i married a cluttermonkey so that's what I get for not taking the bach-pad-check seriously.

nothing more in the mail yet, today there was plenty of things but nothing for me. Curse those ex-basement-dwelling brotherinlaws and thier lazy non-mail-forwarding!

I will screech in last minute tomorrow to send i bet. haha. Still working on that last tomato. I figured a tomato would be super simple and then I went and did a six-panel design with hand stitching. they're taking more than an hour each. But i will prevail!

I got my pickle and um... white vegetable? LOL! To be honest I'm not entirely sure what it is! I'm so embarassed. My vegetable selection here doesn't seem to include that one! Regardless, though, they arrived today and my DD2 took off with them RIDICULOUSLY delighted to gnaw on them. I think she hid them in her bed and I don't dare go rummage for them as she's just gone down for naps but she LOVED them! And she knew right away they were "food" all on her own lol

edit: oh and might I add, the turtle card got her BEYOND excited ALL OVER AGAIN. I kid you not, 'turtle' was one of that girl's first ten words. I don't know; she's a crazy kid. She can also start the truck, and gives me The Look and says "MOMMy. DONT. TOUCH." all calm and angry-like when she wants me to back off. (and then I'm all like WATCH YOUR MOUTH and she blinks and opens her mouth wide looking all confused. Phew, still a toddler.)

that's too perfect! If I had one of those, I wouldn't have to get all irritated when somebody riffled through my purse looking for candy!
