1  bulletin board / little by little in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by lorchick on: July 17, 2009 08:03:15 PM

DD modelling the bulletin board I made for her room... Now, *i* realize you don't need to model a bulletin board. But apparently she didn't, cos she just jumped right in there. Goodness knows I can't get her to model nicely when I sew her some clothes, of course.

WIP of bulletin board (sorry i don't have the original, but trust me, HI-DE-OUS! old and used and homemade)

Little area... little by little i'm putting my DD's room together...
sorry, this was taken in the dark. LOL.

2  simplicity dress (my toughguy hubby helped make this! d'aww!) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by lorchick on: July 14, 2009 07:20:18 PM

I loved this fabric so I had to buy it, and then buy a pattern for a dress to make with it. This is actually a pretty complex pattern for such a simple looking dress. There's like, six godets, the top is fully lined, the ruffles seem to be done in the most complex way possible, the instructions are in engrishican, etc etc etc. But I pushed through it! i especially love that it is a faux wrap top with ruffles on the wrap part. tres cute.

It needs a new ribbon, I just grabbed something from my stash, I want something wider. Oh and something that isn't the backside of a patterned ribbon LOL.

The cutest thing about this dress? my HUSBAND helped me with it! so cute, i know. He pulled out the gathering stitches from the sleeves when I was done sewing the bodice, and he also helped pinning the godets onto the skirt pieces while i started sewing the other half of the skirt. Such a crap pinner, but I didn't say a word because I was just too tickled that he was helping.

funny what a baby girl will do to a man. This:

becomes this:

and then he starts making dresses. Cheesy

(and yes, that is a canada flag down his pants in that first one, and fairy wings on his back in the second)

I received from lorchick!! Smiley

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x179/perlabella5/Completed%20Swaps/OTT21-Recdlorchick.jpg

it's beautiful!! Smiley i love the shell and the locket actually opens too Smiley cant find a small enough picture though yet lol and pretty darn cool skeleton key!!!

lol i have to say - it's insanely interesting how my partners somehow pick the same or similar themes!! last round (OTT 20) was focused on mermaids and this one was on necklaces!! Smiley was there a memo ladies? Smiley heehee i love both necklaces!!!!!!
Yay! I'm glad it arrived safely!

Ok I'm posting this extra picture so it's easier for me to remember what was all in this necklace so I can explain it a bit more indepth... which may or may not be completely dorky but whatevs.
locket - vintage
key - vintage
the piece holding the charm part together is made of a vintage fish hook that I clipped the mean parts off of! and there is a bit of fishing line in there too, holding the two beads, i'm trying to find what they were, tourmaline i think... :S oh and the blue flower bead is also vintage. aaand i think that is it. Cheesy
edit: oh yeah and i named it Mermaid's Treasure. (/dork)

and yes, those are some big earrings. I should take a pic with the necklace on... it is not a choker, it rests on my collarbone.

edit: caved to DD and made her a 'pretty' lol... she picked out the flower and the blue beads and i took it from there.

There are a few things I'd do differently if I did this again, but I was throwing it together quickly so she'd stop trying to steal strands of beads and toss them around her neck. Especially those blue ones, not cheap. lol. Actually she seems to be drawn to the priciest ones as a trend. lol. But now she has her OWN "pretty"

edit: I had to look up my purchases to be sure, but the blue beads are in fact jade. the stone/wood looking ones are 4x6mm Natural Picture Jasper Rondelle Drum Beads, and the cream ones are shell beads (flowers + irregular shapes.)  Also on the above jewelry, turquoise and the Natural Picture Jasper Rondelle Drum Beads.

bonus picture:

"HALP" lol

7  playing around (turquoise, jade, and superiority-complex-kitty) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lorchick on: April 08, 2009 05:49:18 AM

my first real forays into jewelry (at least, since I did seed beading as a teen. I can make a mean flower, I tell ya)

The earrings I bought years ago and when I finished my necklace and bracelate I realized it was a perfect match. Bracelet needs a clasp yet, I'm fresh out.

Keys To My Heart set is actually unfinished because it will not involve the bathtub chain, or whatever those are actually called in the jewelry world (lol) b/c I haven't worn those since I was a teenager.

thanks perlabella!
I love how strong these magnets are! How ridiculous is that, how that is my fav thing? LOL. I just hate weak magnets to death. These are cute AND functional!
I especially love the sillouette one (sp?)

edit: these also came in an absolutely adorable pouch which my daughter dissapeared with immediatly. She claimed it as her own, which means I may never see it again. lol. Shame, too, because it was adorable.

10  adult shirts to toddler shirts (img heavy)(updated) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by lorchick on: March 24, 2009 11:31:03 AM
I considered not counting this as a refashion considering you can't really tell, but I guess the creative cutting and the reuse of already-present hems etc really does make it still a refashion. These were two waffleknit shirts I picked up for $1ea to refashion. The red one was a pain b/c it was the kind where the buttons go down the front of the shirt, plus I had to do some major resizing halfway through b/c DD got sick and had a growth spurt at the same time and mostly ditched the Buddha belly. My chubby baby has refashioned herself into a little girl alluvasudden as well. *tears up*

Oh and I added tags on these ones. haha. They are styled deliberatly, i'm not that incompetant; lol.

and some modelled shots of my cheeky monkey... just the grey, I'll have to do the pink/red later - it doesn't look like such a hack job when it's on. LOL.

See-food  Roll Eyes She's hitting the terrible twos about four months early. lol.
She has a really easy time getting this one on and off, which is great because she's starting to get into that. Which isn't great in the middle of the mall btw. lol. Which is why we wear jeans, they're harder to get off. LOL. (those are new Joe Fresh, btw. there's a bleach flower on the pocket and they have a slight flare and i LOVE them. $15!!! j'adore.)

edit: modelled red shirt:
