2  UNITED STATES / Rhode Island / Brand New Providence Open Market! on: February 06, 2007 11:06:28 AM
Hey all,

I just got word that there's a new Open Market starting up in Providence.  Here's the info I have so far:

    * Day of Market: Saturdays
    * Hours: 11am -5pm
    * Dates: May12th - October 27th
    * Location: 260 Westminster Street (Cross Street - Union Street)
    * Space Available: 85 - 10x10 per Saturday
    * Space Type: Parking Lot
    * Cost: $50.00 per Saturday (4 day minimum)
    * Vendor Type: Artists, Craft Artists, Designers, Specialty Food, Farmers
    * Applications: Online Application - www.providenceopenm arket.com

I usually sell at the Boston Open Market and it's been a really fun experience so I'm going to do Providence too this year...if anyone has any questions about the "outdoor selling" experience, send me a message, I'd love to pass along my craft-selling wisdom.  Or if you have any other questions about the markets, organizers, etc.  I'm not an organizer, but I've been a regular seller so I might be able to help you out.

3  UNITED STATES / New Hampshire / Craft Smackdown at South End Open Market on: August 05, 2006 09:50:07 AM
Okay so it's in October (the 1st)...but you can apply now, and I think it's going to be hysterical, so check it out:

http://southendopenmarket.com/craftsmackdown.htm

Basically the South End Open Market in Boston is hosting a three-round craft smackdown, i.e. you get ten minutes each round and a diverse pile of supplies to attempt make something spectacular based on a given theme Smiley  Crafters are eliminated each round and there will be a grand prize winner at the end.  I think it will be a fun and quite wacky good time.  Sort of like one of those insane eating contests...but with lots of glitter...!

And for more about the market:

6  UNITED STATES / New Hampshire / Craft Mafia meet-ups! on: June 29, 2006 02:05:53 PM
As a follow up to my NH crafter call to arms Tongue I am posting this link to the new Boston Craft Mafia website:  http://bostoncraftmafia.org/

They'll be organizing some craft get-togethers and stuff soon so I'll post more info here for anyone who is interested.  I'd be happy to meet up and carpool with anyone who'd like to go.

I'd like to get some NH crafters together up here too this summer, but Boston isn't prohibitively far away and meeting there might be a good way for us to get the ball rolling.

7  UNITED STATES / Massachusetts / Wanna Share a Booth at South End Open Market? on: June 01, 2006 12:13:08 PM
Hi craftsters,

I am booking booth space for several dates throughout the summer at the South End Open Market.  Anyone want to share?  If you don't know about the market, go check it out:

www.southendopenmar ket.com

I participated in it opening weekend and had so much fun (and made money) I want to do it again..and again...and...you get the idea.

PM me for more info (and check out my site so you can see if you'd like to share space with me, www.muchachaK.com) but the basics are this:  it's an outdoor craft/farmer's/vintage market with a whole gaggle of interesting vendors.  Booth space is $50 per 10 x 10 space per date.  So if you share with another crafter or two, it's very affordable.  Plus, as we discovered opening weekend, sharing with others and having a gaggle of fun stuff filling your booth is a great way to draw in customers.

So let me know if you're interested Smiley  Thanks!

Hey craftsters,

I'm reserving booth space at the Boston South End Open Market for several dates this summer and would love to share booth space with other crafters.  I did it a couple weekends ago and it was really fun and I made money--great combo Smiley  Sharing a booth is a great way to draw customers in too because you've got a nice full booth of different things to check out.  Great excuse to get out of NH for a day also, lol...

The booth spaces cost $50 per 10 x 10 booth per date.  So if you split that by however many craftsters are sharing a booth...see what I mean, very affordable.

Check out the website:  www.southendopenmar ket.com

Or PM me for more info Smiley

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Embossed Vinyl mini purse on: October 23, 2005 09:18:06 PM
I've been way off the crafting map for a couple months, thank GOD I've finally got my machine set back up.  My sister and I went fabric scavenging recently and found this amazingly textured vinyl.  I hadn't worked with vinyl before and was worried about how my machine might take it...I can proudly report that vinyl is totally awesome to work with and my regular ol' sewing machine sewed through it just fine.  So anyhoo, here's the bag.  It's currently living in a local boutique on consignment (my first experiment with consignment, we'll see how that goes):

It's about 10 inches long and 5 inches high.  (Sorry the pics are a little fuzzy...)
The inside is lined with interfaced lime green dupioni silk, the pocket is a stretch twill.
