1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Burlesque Corset and Skirt (no nudity) on: March 23, 2014 02:28:02 PM
This is a project for part of my college course where we had to sew a corset and skirt in the theme burlesque.
There was a lot of work involved in the corset but I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. It looked awesome on the catwalk too!  Smiley

Let me know what you guys think!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / the best things come in HUGE packages on: August 04, 2010 04:41:19 AM
ok well my friend is obsessed with giraffes, she loves them to pieces. and it was about 5 days away from her birthday and i suddenly thought, oh god i havent got her a present. well im always pretty broke so i decided to make something giraffey. first i started design a bag as im quite confident with bags. then i suddenly thought , why dont i just make a giant giraffe. well it ended up a bit bigger than intended but i think she ll love it
and 2 and a half days later............

close up of head

head and neck

this is the best position i could get it to sit in, but it does look a bit uncomfortable haha

close up of tail

bad photo of me but it shows how big it is Smiley it ended up about 6ft tall haha

ok i dont no hu on earth wud be mad enough to take on this challenge of making this but here is a tutorial of how to make your own giant giraffe:D

ok well its not the best but here are the pieces you ll need , the measurements are only approx

hopefully u can zoom or some thing to see it better

anyway heres what to do briefly-

start with body- attach back, belly and bit under neck together on one edge so it forms a long piece. then attach the long piece to the sides, making sure to leave a hole to turn through. make sure it big so you can stuff it, and you hav a body

then i did the head and neck- you want to start doing the wool mane first, heres how to do one piece, you can decide how long you want the pieces

do that all the way down the neck and then repeat in layers so you get it nice and thick. then attach one head piece to one neck piece and repeat with other pieces, now attach the 2 sides together all the way down the back of the neck and just stop about half way down the inside neck . MAKE SURE U DONT SEW THE MANE INTO SEAM!!!! its a nightmarre to unpick .

now pin neck to body starting with the back , once that is done, sew front of neck

now for legs- just sew these togther , turn through, stuff nd seal top.

now for the boring bit, stuff your giraffe body and neck so its pretty firm.

its not very complicated but incase you hav any doubts, heres how to attach the legs

now for tail, attach wool to end of tail like you did the mane and just sew the 2 pieces together, turn through, stuff and seal top

attach to giraffe's bum .

for the ears-

i forgot to put the stuff u need for the horns in the first picture and forgot to measure them before i gave it away so ill do my best to do accurate instructions but you may need to improvise a bit , sorry -

now hand sew button on tail, ears, nose, horns and buttons for eyes and have a big sigh of relief and maybe a bit of chocolate Smiley

YOU NOW HAV A 6 FOOT GIRAFFE!!!!!! woooo

enjoy Cheesy

update!!!-

ok just to make this thread even longer.....

here is me on my way to give it to her, and its a bit windy! Smiley

this is her receiving it

she loves the giraffe Cheesy

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / cute wheat bag animals with tutorial (pic heavy) on: February 19, 2009 09:24:11 AM
here are my really cute animal wheat cushions inspired by the uterus therapy cushion.

tutorial (my first)

they are really easy to make first u need

some nice fabric scraps that will fit in with the animal ur making
about a kg of wheat grains (depends how squishy or hard you want ur pillow)
assorted felt for eyes, ears etc.
a nice essence to add to the finished product e.g lavender oil, vanilla essence
some card

now ur ready to start crafting

first create a rough template from the pic below to use as a guide for ur body pieces

cut out four of these pieces for the body.

now cut out any pieces u may need for eyes, pupils, feet, noses, ears

pin every to the body sections except the pupils and feet as u will be adding them later

sow these down and then attach pupils and make mouth

now sow together two of the body parts together then repeat with other two. sow over each seam twice for maximum strength

then place the two halves right sides together , pin and sow but dont forget to leave hole at the back for turning through

after that turn the animal so the right side is out and pin and hand sow the feet
]

now either make or use a funnel to fill the animal with as much wheat as you want but be sure to leave at least a little gap

add about 2-3 teaspoon of essence to the inside and shake to make sure the it is spread evenly

now fold the open edges and sow

and you are finished!!!!!!

now place it in the microwave for 2-3 minute stopping it every minute to shake
